What Rogue Prince of Persia PS5 Plays Like
Ubisoft calls it a fast-paced roguelite. You run, vault and fight through Persia in 2D, and when you are beaten you respawn back at the oasis instead of loading a save. Each failure, in Ubisoft’s words, is a chance at rebirth: you explore different paths, choose new weapons and build your own playstyle in a loop designed to be replayed.
Movement is the signature. The Prince is a fast, acrobatic fighter with the series’ wall-running ability, so crossing a room well is as much a skill as winning the fight in it. Each weapon type has its own pace and area of effect, which changes how close you want to be to an enemy.
Weapons, Medallions and Soul Cinders
Ubisoft lists over 100 weapons and medallions to discover and unlock. Soul Cinders you collect during a run and send back to the oasis unlock new weapons and medallions for future attempts. Medallions add buffs and can imbue your attacks with status effects, and the combinations you equip decide how a run feels.
Your build can be upgraded between runs, which is why each attempt at Rogue Prince of Persia PS5 tends to reach further than the last. A Mind Map records everything the Prince has learned, so clues and story threads are not lost when a run ends.
From Early Access to the Full Release
The game spent time in early access before its full launch in August 2025, and Ubisoft notes that new biomes, weapons, tools and medallions were added along the way. The soundtrack is by Asadi, the Persian-American electronic producer, which gives the runs their driving beat.
The physical edition you see here is the Standard Edition. Ubisoft also sells an Immortal Edition with a SteelBook, a poster and three lithograph prints; those extras are not part of this box.
Rogue Prince of Persia PS5: Players and Languages
The PlayStation Store lists The Rogue Prince of Persia as a 1-player game; there is no co-op or multiplayer mode. On PS5 it supports DualSense vibration and adaptive trigger effects, and both can be turned off. Roguelites are built on repetition. If being sent back to the start after a defeat sounds frustrating rather than motivating, Rogue Prince of Persia PS5 will test your patience; progress comes through unlocks and your own skill, not checkpoints. It is also strictly single-player, and it is a 2D action game rather than a 3D adventure in the style of The Sands of Time.
Collectors should note that this Standard Edition box does not include the Immortal Edition’s SteelBook, poster or lithographs.
