Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 Standard Edition PS5 – 70 Aircraft, 150 Handcrafted Airports, Career Mode

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 arrived on PlayStation 5 on 8 December 2025. Developed by Asobo Studio in partnership with Microsoft, it streams a model of the whole planet while you fly, which is why PlayStation states that a constant internet connection and a PlayStation account login are required. This listing is the Standard Edition for PS5, which includes 70 aircraft and 150 handcrafted airports.

What Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 Is on PS5

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is a civil aviation simulator rather than an arcade flying game. You plan routes, take off, navigate and land in a world built from real map data, with aircraft that range, across all editions, from ultralights and bush planes to helicopters, eVTOLs, airships, balloons, business jets, airliners and military transporters.

PlayStation’s announcement describes more than 40,000 airports and runways and over 60,000 helipads across the planet. The 150 airports counted in the Standard Edition are the handcrafted, detailed ones; the rest of the world is still there to fly over and land in.

Career Mode and Activities

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 adds a career structure on top of free flight. You gain experience, build your reputation and earn certifications, then take on jobs such as aerial firefighting, search and rescue, medevac, remote cargo operations, aerial construction and agriculture.

Beyond the career there are challenges: rally races, precision landings, low-altitude challenges and Challenge League competitions. Online, PS Plus Essential members can fly with friends and competitors.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 and the DualSense Controller

On PS5 the DualSense controller is used in specific ways. The adaptive triggers respond to different speeds and surfaces on the ground and give sloped resistance in the air, and air traffic control messages play through the controller speaker to imitate a cockpit radio. PlayStation also mentions gyro controls, light bar support and touchpad integration.

On PS5 Pro the game supports ultra-HD resolutions and ray-traced visuals. PlayStation announced that PS VR2 support would come as a free update in 2026; check its availability on PlayStation Store before buying with VR in mind.

Internet Connection and Online Requirements

This is the most important point before buying. PlayStation states that Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 needs a constant internet connection and a login to your PlayStation account, because world content is streamed while you play. Without a stable connection the game cannot be played as intended, so it is not a good fit for a console that is often offline.

Multiplayer flight with other players requires a PS Plus Essential membership.

Standard Edition and the Other Editions

PlayStation lists four editions of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. Standard includes 70 aircraft and 150 airports; Deluxe raises that to 80 aircraft and 155 airports; Premium Deluxe has 95 aircraft and 160 airports; and Aviator has 125 aircraft and 160 airports. This product is the Standard Edition, so the extra aircraft and airports of the higher editions are not included.

Languages: voice-over is in English, French, German, Italian and Spanish. Screen text is available in 18 languages including English, Turkish and Russian, but Arabic is not among them.

Who This Is Not For

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is not for anyone without a reliable home internet connection, since constant connectivity is required. It does not support Arabic text or voice. Players looking for fast action or combat should look elsewhere; this is a simulator built around procedures, navigation and careful landings. And if you want every aircraft PlayStation lists, the Standard Edition holds 70 of them, not the full 125.
