The Kooduu Lite Up Play Petroleum is the full-size lantern from Kooduu’s speaker-lamp range, in the darkest of its four colours. Kooduu, the Danish design brand, writes the model as Lite-up PLAY and sells it with SOUND BY JBL: a 10 watt full-range speaker, Bluetooth 5.3 and a 2600 mAh battery inside a 40 cm lamp with a wooden handle. You carry it by that handle from the living room to the terrace, and it gives you warm light and music from one object.

Kooduu Lite Up Play Petroleum: What the Colour Looks Like
Petroleum is a deep green-blue, darker than the Ocean Blue version and far cooler than the Earth and Sand shades. On the Kooduu Lite Up Play Petroleum the colour sits on the soft-touch rubber finish. Kooduu lists the body itself as white PE, which is the part that glows when the lamp is on, so what you see at night is a warm white lantern framed by a dark petrol-coloured top and base.
In daylight, switched off, the Kooduu Lite Up Play Petroleum reads as a solid dark object with a light wooden handle. It sits naturally next to dark timber, charcoal or navy upholstery, black metal garden furniture and concrete or stone floors. It is the colour to choose when you want the lamp to fade into the room during the day and appear only once the light comes on.
A dark soft-touch finish shows light-coloured dust and fingerprints more readily than Sand does, especially on the top where the handle is held. A dry microfibre cloth removes both. Keep sunscreen and hand cream away from the rubber, as oily residues are more visible on a dark matte surface.
Who Chooses the Petroleum Version
The Kooduu Lite Up Play Petroleum suits interiors built around darker tones: a majlis with deep green or navy cushions, a study with dark wood shelving, or a modern apartment with grey walls and black fittings. In those spaces the lighter Sand or Earth versions stand out as a pale block. Petroleum blends in.
It also works well on a terrace in the evening. Against a dark night sky and outdoor furniture, the body disappears and only the lit shade and the handle remain visible. For a restaurant table, a rooftop dinner or a villa garden gathering, that gives a cleaner look than a pale lamp.
If your room is mostly white, cream or light oak, choose Sand or Earth instead of the Kooduu Lite Up Play Petroleum. The Kooduu Lite Up Play Petroleum is at its best where there is already some depth of colour around it.
10 W Sound by JBL and Stereo Pairing
Kooduu specifies a single 10 watt full-range speaker, branded SOUND BY JBL. Full range means one driver covers the whole frequency band rather than a separate woofer and tweeter. That is the right design for a lamp that plays background music at dinner, and it is not a party speaker. Kooduu does not publish a frequency response or a maximum volume figure.
The connection is Bluetooth 5.3. Kooduu also lists True Wireless Stereo: you can pair the Kooduu Lite Up Play Petroleum with one other Lite-up PLAY or Lite-up PLAY Mini and the two play as a stereo pair. Two lamps at each end of a long table, or either side of a sofa, spread the sound much wider than one unit on its own.
The Light: 2700 K, Dimmable
The lamp uses a 2.0 watt LED at 2700 Kelvin, which is warm white, close to the tone of a traditional incandescent bulb. Kooduu describes the light as dimmable. It does not publish a lumen figure or the number of dimming levels for the full-size Lite-up PLAY.
Treat the Kooduu Lite Up Play Petroleum as mood lighting. It makes a dinner table or a reading corner feel warm, but it will not replace a ceiling light or a desk lamp for close work.
Battery, Charging and Everyday Use
The battery is 2600 mAh, and Kooduu rates it at up to 11 hours. Kooduu’s own note on that figure matters: actual playtime depends on the brightness and volume you choose, and at a moderate volume and light level the average is approximately 8.5 hours. Full brightness with loud music will give less.
The Kooduu Lite Up Play Petroleum charges in 3.5 hours through a USB-C port, and the charging cable is included. Kooduu does not list a wall adapter in the box, so use a phone charger you already own. The lamp is 40 cm tall, 29 cm wide and weighs 2.00 kg, with wooden feet fitted with rubber pads so it does not mark a table.
In the UAE summer, do not leave the Kooduu Lite Up Play Petroleum in a parked car or in direct midday sun on a terrace. Heat is hard on any lithium battery, and Kooduu publishes no IP rating for this model, so it should also be brought inside before rain or irrigation.
Who This Is Not For
Not for anyone who needs a loud outdoor speaker. One 10 W full-range driver is designed for a table and conversation-level music. For a pool party, look at a dedicated party speaker instead.
Not for wet environments. Kooduu does not publish a water or dust rating for the Kooduu Lite Up Play Petroleum, so it should not be left by a pool, in the rain or under sprinklers.
Not the lightest option. At 2.00 kg and 40 cm tall, the Kooduu Lite Up Play Petroleum is a piece of furniture that you move between rooms, not something for a backpack. If you want the same look in a smaller size, the Lite-up PLAY Mini is 29 cm tall and 0.93 kg.
Not for bright task lighting. With no published lumen figure and a 2.0 W LED, this is ambient light.

No, it is a Kooduu product with sound by JBL. Kooduu designs and sells the lamp, and the 10 W speaker carries the SOUND BY JBL branding under their collaboration.
Which parts are Petroleum coloured?
The soft-touch rubber finish is Petroleum. Kooduu lists the body as white PE, and that is the part that glows when the light is on, so the lit shade looks warm white on every colour.
How long does the battery last?
Up to 11 hours, per Kooduu, from a 2600 mAh battery. Kooduu states that at moderate volume and light level the average is approximately 8.5 hours.
Can I pair two lamps for stereo?
Yes. Kooduu lists True Wireless Stereo with one other Lite-up PLAY with SOUND BY JBL.
Can I leave it outside?
No. Kooduu publishes no water or dust rating for this model, so use it outdoors only in dry conditions and bring it in afterwards.
How bright is the light?
Kooduu does not publish a lumen figure. It lists a 2.0 W LED at 2700 K, which is warm, dimmable ambient light rather than reading light.
Is a wall charger included?
No. Kooduu lists a USB-C charging cable in the box, not a wall adapter, and a full charge takes 3.5 hours.
