Govee’s Middle East store calls it the Govee Smart TV Backlight 3S and ships it in Netflix-themed packaging. You will also see it sold as the Envisual TV Backlight 3S, after Govee’s name for its camera colour-matching technology.
The principle is simple. The camera watches the screen, the controller works out the colours near each edge, and the strip on the back of the TV repeats them on the wall. Because it reads the picture itself rather than a video signal, Govee says it captures the colour of any TV screen content without compatibility issues. Streaming apps, a games console, a satellite receiver and the TV’s own apps all sync the same way.
Fish-Eye Correction: Why the Camera Matters
A wide-angle camera placed close to a large screen sees the edges bent, a bit like a photo taken through a door viewer. Colours near the corners then get sampled from the wrong spot. Govee’s answer on the Govee TV Backlight 3S is what it calls upgraded fish-eye correction camera technology: the camera image is corrected for lens distortion and the effective colour-matching range is expanded, which Govee says gives more accurate edges.
The edges are exactly where backlighting either convinces or distracts. When a red title card sits in the lower corner of the frame, you want red light below that corner, not a shade picked from the middle of the picture. Correcting the camera image is what lets the lighting follow those details instead of averaging them away.
RGBIC+W Beads and the Extra Warm White
Each bead on the Govee TV Backlight 3S strip is a 4-in-1 unit: red, green and blue plus a dedicated warm white chip. Govee says the warm white was added to improve lighting during movie nights and gaming. RGBIC means the strip is split into segments that can show different colours at the same time, so the left side of the TV can glow blue while the right side turns orange.
The white chip matters more than it sounds. White made by mixing red, green and blue tends to look cold or slightly tinted on a painted wall. A dedicated warm white gives a softer bias light when you simply want the room dim and comfortable for a late episode or background TV, without running a colour effect at all.
Netflix Effects, Blank Screen Detection and DreamView
The Netflix side of the Govee TV Backlight 3S is a set of up to six customised Netflix-themed lighting effects, according to Govee, alongside the normal camera sync mode. Govee does not list the names of those six effects on its product page, so we do not name them here either.
Two everyday features come from the same feature list. Blank screen detection turns the lights off automatically when the camera sees a blank or static screen, so the wall does not stay lit after the TV goes to standby. DreamView syncing lets you add up to seven Govee sub-devices, such as light bars or lamps, so more of the room follows the picture.
Control runs through the Govee Home app, and Govee lists voice control with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant for switching the lights on, off or between modes without the phone.
