The Ninja AF451 Dual Zone Air Fryer is the Foodi MAX Dual Zone with Smart Cook System: two independent 4.75L drawers for 9.5L in total, 2470W of power, six cooking functions and a digital cooking probe that sits in the food and tells the unit when it is done. Ninja rates each drawer for up to 1.4kg of fries or a whole chicken of up to 2kg, so you can cook a main and a side at once, or a double batch of one dish. Sync finishes two different foods at the same moment, and Match copies one setting to both drawers.
Table of Contents
Two 4.75L drawers, not one 9.5L basket
The 9.5L figure is the total of two separate drawers of 4.75L each, each with its own heating zone and non-stick crisper plate. That means the largest single item is limited by one drawer, but Ninja still rates each drawer for a whole chicken of up to 2kg, or up to 1.4kg of fries. Ninja also says the Ninja AF451 Dual Zone Air Fryer cooks up to 25% more than its 7.6L AF300 model. For a family, two drawers usually beat one large basket, because the chicken and the vegetables can run on different settings.
The digital cooking probe
A digital cooking probe comes in the box and stores in a slot on the side of the unit. You push it into a thick cut of meat or fish, choose the food and the doneness you want, and the probe tracks the internal temperature so the drawer stops when the food is ready rather than after a guessed time. That removes the usual trade-off with chicken breasts or steaks, where you either overcook to be safe or risk a raw centre. The probe is meant for thick cuts; fries and vegetables still cook by time.
Sync and Match
Two buttons make the dual-zone layout practical. Sync lets you cook two different foods with different times, temperatures and programmes, and the Ninja AF451 Dual Zone Air Fryer delays the shorter one so both drawers finish together and reach the table hot. Match applies the same programme and time to both drawers, either to double one recipe or to cook two foods that need identical settings. Each drawer can also run completely on its own.
Six functions
Ninja lists six functions: Max Crisp, Air Fry, Roast, Reheat, Dehydrate and Bake. Max Crisp reaches 240°C for frozen foods such as chips and nuggets. Dehydrate dries fruit or makes jerky over several hours at low heat. Ninja quotes up to 75% less fat with Air Fry, tested against deep-fried hand-cut French fries, and up to 75% faster cooking than fan ovens, tested with fish fingers and sausages including preheat. It also quotes energy savings of up to 65% versus a conventional oven, based on sausages.
Size, cord and cleaning
Ninja lists the Ninja AF451 Dual Zone Air Fryer at 32.5 × 41.5 × 27 cm (H × W × D) and 8.85kg, so measure the counter and the space under wall cupboards before ordering. The power cord is only 0.8m long, so the socket needs to be close behind the unit. At 2470W it draws a lot of current, so plug it straight into a wall socket rather than a light extension lead. The drawers and crisper plates are dishwasher safe.
Who This Is Not For
The Ninja AF451 Dual Zone Air Fryer is not for small kitchens with little counter depth: it is 41.5 cm wide and weighs 8.85kg. It is not for a spot far from a socket, because the cord is only 0.8m. It has no Wi-Fi or app control, and no dedicated proving mode for dough among its six functions. A single item larger than one 4.75L drawer, such as a chicken heavier than about 2kg, will not fit.
