The Xbox DOOM The Dark Ages Controller is the limited-edition Xbox Wireless Controller Microsoft released on 16 April 2025 for id Software’s DOOM: The Dark Ages. Its matte, battle-worn green shell copies the DOOM Slayer’s armour, with 3D silver helmet spikes, a red thumbstick and ABXY buttons marked in the game’s Sentinel alphabet. It includes a code for the DOOM Slayer Executioner skin. This is the US version, new and sealed.

Slayer armour, in detail
Microsoft describes a matte, battle-worn green finish with silver plated sheathing across the top, raised 3D silver spikes from the Slayer’s helmet, a red mark on the face and a red right thumbstick. The green ABXY buttons use symbols from the Sentinel alphabet instead of letters, and blood-splatter details reference the Shield Saw. The grips are rubberised with a leather-like texture.
A collector’s piece that still gets used
Microsoft sold it first through its own store and the edition is no longer stocked there, which is why it draws collectors. It is still a full Xbox Wireless Controller, so you can play with it daily; the textured grips and hybrid D-pad are the same as on the standard model, and the raised spikes sit on the top edge, away from your hands.
Where it works
It connects with Xbox Wireless to Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, and with Bluetooth to Windows 10/11 PCs, Android phones and iPhones. For wired play on PC you need a USB-C cable, which is sold separately. Two AA batteries power it for up to 40 hours, according to Microsoft.
The in-game bonus
The box includes the DOOM Slayer Executioner skin as downloadable content. The game itself is not included, so you need DOOM: The Dark Ages on Xbox or PC to use the skin.
Who This Is Not For
It is not a PlayStation controller and does not work on PS5. The bonus skin needs the game, which is sold separately. It runs on AA batteries rather than a built-in battery, so heavy players may want a rechargeable pack. Microsoft does not publish the box contents on its page, and the US version is covered by Totot’s warranty only.
