The Soundcore Liberty Buds are Anker’s semi-in-ear noise-cancelling earbuds: they sit in the outer ear, held by a small detachable fin, instead of sealing deep inside the canal with a silicone tip. This is the Midnight Black version (soundcore model D1200), with Adaptive ANC 3.0, 11 mm dynamic drivers, LDAC support and Bluetooth 6.1. Soundcore rates the Soundcore Liberty Buds at up to 7 hours per charge with noise cancelling off, and up to 30 hours in total with the charging case.

Semi-in-Ear Fit: What It Means on the Soundcore Liberty Buds
A conventional in-ear bud pushes a silicone tip into the ear canal. The Soundcore Liberty Buds take a different route: the body rests at the entrance of the ear and a soft fin tucks under the ridge of the outer ear to hold it in place. Soundcore describes the result as breathable, non-stuffy comfort for all-day wear, and it supplies four ear-fin sizes in the box so you can match the fit to your ear.
The practical difference is pressure. People who find sealed tips tiring after an hour, or who dislike the blocked feeling of a tight seal, are the ones this design is aimed at. The fins are detachable, so you can swap sizes until the buds stay put when you turn your head or walk quickly.
Adaptive ANC 3.0 and Four AI Microphones
Soundcore calls the noise cancelling on the Soundcore Liberty Buds Adaptive ANC 3.0. It monitors the sound around you in real time and adjusts the cancelling level automatically, so it does not need to be switched between presets as you move from a quiet office to a busy mall or a metro carriage.
For calls, soundcore lists four microphones with AI noise reduction. Soundcore does not publish a noise-reduction percentage or decibel figure for this model. Expect the cancelling to work best on steady sounds such as air-conditioning hum and engine drone, which is where any ANC earbud performs strongest.
Sound: 11 mm Drivers, LDAC and Hi-Res Audio
Inside each bud is an 11 mm dynamic driver. Soundcore lists Hi-Res Audio and LDAC for the Soundcore Liberty Buds, and describes a well-balanced sound profile across all frequencies rather than a bass-heavy tuning. LDAC matters if you stream lossless or high-bitrate files from a phone that supports the codec; on phones without LDAC the buds fall back to a standard codec.
The soundcore app adds a customisable EQ and sound modes, so you can push the bass up or soften the treble without touching the phone’s own settings.
Battery Life and Charging, With the Conditions
Soundcore’s figures depend on whether noise cancelling is on. In Normal mode the Soundcore Liberty Buds run up to 7 hours per charge and up to 30 hours with the case. With ANC on, that drops to up to 6 hours per charge and 26 hours in total. Call time with ANC is up to 4 hours per charge and 17 hours with the case. Soundcore says these results come from its own lab tests at 50% volume with default settings, so louder listening will shorten them.
A 10-minute charge gives up to 4 hours of playback in Normal mode. A full charge takes less than 60 minutes for the earbuds and less than 180 minutes for the case with the earbuds inside. Soundcore’s FAQ states that wireless charging is not supported, so the case charges by cable only.
Connection, App and Translation
The Soundcore Liberty Buds use Bluetooth 6.1 with multipoint, so they can stay connected to a phone and a laptop at the same time and switch when a call comes in. The IP55 rating covers sweat and splashes; soundcore does not state in its spec table whether that rating extends to the case, so keep the case dry.
Translation runs through the soundcore app on your phone: soundcore says it translates over 100 languages and shows live captions in the app, and it requires app version 3.8.7 or later. It is a phone-app feature working with the buds, not a standalone offline translator inside the earbuds.
Why the Midnight Black Finish
Black is the safest choice of the three soundcore colours (Midnight Black, Pearl White and Light Blue). It does not show make-up or skin-oil marks on the fins, and the case hides pocket scuffs better than the pale finishes. If you prefer a lighter look, the same earbuds are also on our site in Pearl White and Light Blue.
Who This Is Not For
If you want the deepest possible isolation, a fully sealed in-ear model will block more low-frequency noise than a semi-in-ear design that sits at the ear’s entrance. The case has no wireless charging, so it will not charge on a Qi pad. Soundcore does not publish the weight of the buds or the case. And if you only ever listen on an iPhone, LDAC brings nothing, because iPhones do not support that codec.
