The Soundcore AeroClip Midnight is the dark version of Soundcore’s open-ear clip-on earbud. Instead of pushing a tip into your ear canal, each bud hooks around the outer edge of the ear, with the speaker resting in front of the ear opening. Music plays while traffic, colleagues and announcements stay audible. Soundcore lists 6.0 g per earbud, a customised 12mm titanium-coated driver, Bluetooth 5.4 with two-device connection, an IP55 rating, and up to 8 hours of playback per charge or 32 hours in total with the case, measured at 50% volume.

An open ring that holds on
The Soundcore AeroClip Midnight has no ear tips. A speaker body sits in front of the ear, a flexible bridge wraps over the edge, and a rounded rear piece rests behind it. Soundcore makes that bridge from 0.5 mm memory titanium wire covered in soft material and says it survives 20,000 bends while keeping its shape. The body has an ergonomic 3° inward curve, and Soundcore states the acoustic chamber is 37% smaller than on its earlier clip-on earbuds, which reduces pressure on the ear. If the clip feels tight, Soundcore’s support page allows you to open the joint gently, but by no more than 5 mm.
Sound, Hi-Res and LDAC
Open-ear earbuds give up some bass because nothing seals the ear. Soundcore counters that with its customised 12mm titanium-coated driver and supports Hi-Res wireless audio. On Android phones you can switch on LDAC in the soundcore app; Soundcore quotes a maximum bitrate of 990 kbps and states that LDAC works only with Android devices. An iPhone connects over AAC, and SBC is also supported. Soundcore’s support page lists 84 dB as the loudest output, so in very loud places such as a busy metro platform the Soundcore AeroClip Midnight will not drown out the noise, and it is not meant to.
Battery and charging
Soundcore rates the Soundcore AeroClip Midnight at up to 8 hours per charge and up to 32 hours with the case, both measured with continuous playback at 50% volume. A 10-minute charge gives about 3 hours of listening. Soundcore’s support page lists about 50 minutes to fully charge the earbuds and about 2 hours for the case. If the buds stay disconnected for 30 minutes they power off to save battery, and you can change that timer in the app. That means a full working day of listening, with the case covering the rest of the week for most people.
Controls, calls and two devices
Out of the box, a double tap plays or pauses music and answers or ends a call, while a triple tap skips a track or rejects a call. Volume and the voice assistant are disabled by default; you can assign them in the soundcore app. Four beamforming microphones with AI noise reduction handle your voice on calls. Multipoint is on by default: the Soundcore AeroClip Midnight connects to two devices and plays from whichever one started playback last, so a laptop meeting and a phone playlist can share one pair. The app also offers two-way translation in 100 languages, which Soundcore says is free for a limited time.
Why choose Midnight
Midnight is the low-key colour of the four Soundcore sells, alongside Champagne Mist, Glacier Blue and Rosy Brown. The hardware is identical across all of them. The dark finish is the one that disappears on the ear: it blends with dark hair, black glasses frames and a dark shirt collar, and it hides fingerprints and small scuffs on the ring and the case better than the light shades. It suits someone who wears the same pair to the office, the gym and the airport and does not want earbuds that draw attention. After a workout, Soundcore advises wiping sweat off the buds before they go back in the case.
Who This Is Not For
The Soundcore AeroClip Midnight has no active noise cancellation, because the open design is meant to let outside sound in; on a flight or a loud train you will hear the surroundings over your music. IP55 covers light sweat and light rain but not submersion, so it is not for swimming, and Soundcore advises avoiding activities that cause heavy sweating. LDAC works only on Android. Bass is lighter than on sealed in-ear earbuds.
