The Nothing Ear (a) White is the clean, bright version of Nothing’s mid-range earbuds: white stems and a transparent case that shows the magnets and components inside. Behind the look there is real hardware. Nothing quotes up to 45dB of adaptive noise cancellation, an 11mm dynamic driver, Hi-Res Wireless Audio over LDAC at up to 24-bit/96kHz, three microphones per bud and up to 42.5 hours of playback with the case when ANC is off. The buds are rated IP54, the case IPX2, and the earbuds connect to two devices at once over Bluetooth 5.3.

Why the white version
White is the classic Nothing colourway and the one that shows the transparent design best: the clear case and the light stems make the internal parts stand out. The Nothing Ear (a) White matches white and silver phones, light laptops and summer outfits, and it looks tidy on a desk. The trade-off is maintenance: pale stems and a clear case show pocket lint, fingerprints and dust earlier than the Black version, so wipe them with a dry, soft cloth now and then. If you want something louder, Nothing also makes a Yellow version; Black is the more discreet choice.

Up to 45dB adaptive noise cancellation
Nothing rates the ANC on the Nothing Ear (a) White at up to 45dB, working across frequencies up to 5,000Hz. There are High, Mid and Low levels plus an Adaptive mode, covering roughly 15 to 45dB, and a Transparency mode for announcements and conversations. Nothing adds that its smart ANC needs the buds worn with High ANC selected, in-ear detection on, and calm conditions with wind at or below 3m/s. In everyday use of the Nothing Ear (a) White, the right ear tip size matters most, so test the S, M and L tips in the box and use the ear tip fit test in the Nothing X app.

11mm driver and LDAC Hi-Res audio
Each bud uses an 11mm dynamic driver with a PMI + TPU diaphragm, tuned by Nothing. The Nothing Ear (a) White supports SBC, AAC and LDAC, and it is Hi-Res Wireless Audio certified at up to 24-bit/96kHz and 990kbps over LDAC, provided your phone supports LDAC. Most Android phones do; iPhones do not and use AAC. A Bass Enhance algorithm adds weight to the low end and can be adjusted in the Nothing X app, alongside the equaliser and the pinch controls.
Battery: reading the numbers
Nothing measures battery life with AAC at 50% volume. With ANC off you get up to 9.5 hours from the buds and up to 42.5 hours with the case. With ANC on that drops to 5.5 hours and 24.5 hours. Talk time is up to 5.2 hours per charge with ANC off and 4 hours with ANC on. A 10-minute charge gives up to 10 hours of playback with the case (ANC off). A full charge of case and buds over USB-C takes about 90 minutes with a 5V/1.5A adapter or stronger. Wireless charging is not supported on the Nothing Ear (a) White.
Calls, connection and everyday features
Three microphones per bud handle calls with Nothing’s Clear Voice Technology. Bluetooth 5.3 supports dual connection, so the earbuds stay paired with a phone and a laptop together, plus Google Fast Pair and Microsoft Swift Pair. Low Lag mode brings end-to-end latency under 120ms and switches on automatically in Game Mode on a Nothing phone. You also get in-ear detection, an LED charging indicator and Find My Earbuds on Android 10 and later. Nothing also offers ChatGPT voice access, set up through the Nothing X app. The Nothing Ear (a) White works with Android 5.1+ and iOS 11+.
Who This Is Not For
The Nothing Ear (a) White is not for anyone who needs wireless charging, which it does not support. iPhone users will not get LDAC and fall back to AAC. Battery life is modest with ANC on: up to 5.5 hours per charge. The case is only IPX2, so keep it away from water even though the buds are IP54. And the white stems and clear case show dust and marks sooner than the Black version.
