Read this before you buy: the Nest Learning Thermostat 4th gen is built for North American 24 V low-voltage HVAC wiring, and Google lists it as available only in the United States and Canada. Google publishes no support for the UAE. It can control a UAE home only where the air conditioning is already run from a 24 V wall thermostat with W, Y, G and R terminal wires, which is typical of central ducted systems in many villas. It cannot control a split unit that uses a handheld remote, a window unit, or a 220 V line-voltage thermostat of the kind fitted to many chilled-water fan coil units. If you are not sure which type you have, ask your AC technician to check the thermostat wiring before ordering.

UAE Compatibility: Which Homes the Nest Learning Thermostat 4th Gen Can Control
Google states that the Nest Learning Thermostat 4th gen works with most 24 V systems, including gas, electric, oil, forced air, heat pump and radiant, and controls cooling in 1 to 3 stages (Y1 to Y3), heating in 1 to 3 stages (W1 to W3), a fan (G), power (R terminals), humidifier or dehumidifier and ventilation. Google’s compatibility guide also states that high-voltage systems (120 V or 240 V) are not compatible.
Translated to UAE homes, that means three cases. Case 1: a central ducted AC (or a ducted split) with a low-voltage wall thermostat wired with R, Y, G and often C wires, common in villas and some newer apartments; this is the only setup the Nest Learning Thermostat 4th gen can control, and only if the terminals match. Case 2: wall-mounted or ceiling split units controlled by an infrared remote; there is no thermostat wiring at all, and the Nest cannot control them. Case 3: chilled-water systems with fan coil units and a 220 V line-voltage thermostat, common in towers and older buildings; Google says these high-voltage systems are not compatible.
Google also does not list the UAE among the countries where the Nest Learning Thermostat 4th gen is available, so region-dependent services such as local weather data, energy-partner programmes and seasonal savings features are not offered for the UAE, and app setup may require a supported region. Totot cannot confirm which app features will function here beyond basic scheduling and temperature control on a compatible 24 V system, and that is stated plainly rather than assumed.
What ‘Pro Edition’ Means, According to Google
Google sells the Nest Learning Thermostat 4th gen through two channels: retail, and a Pro version supplied through HVAC distributors for professional installers. The hardware and features are the same. The differences Google publishes are about the channel: Pro units support an installer setup mode that completes wiring configuration and system tests without Wi-Fi or the Google Home app, and Google offers an extended Pro warranty (5 years instead of the 2-year retail term) only when a registered Nest Pro in the United States or Canada enters their Pro ID at installation.
None of those Pro benefits apply in the UAE: there is no Nest Pro programme here, and Google’s warranty terms are regional. The Nest Learning Thermostat 4th gen is therefore sold with a 1-year warranty from Totot, and the word Pro on the box should be read as a supply-channel label, not as a higher specification.
The standard Pro box, like the retail box, includes the Nest Temperature Sensor (2nd gen); Google also lists a sensorless Pro SKU for installers, which is not what is sold here. Google’s published box contents are the thermostat display, base, trim plate, steel plate, mounting screws, wiring labels and the temperature sensor. A Nest Power Connector is not listed in the box.
Power: No Mains Plug, It Runs From the 24 V Thermostat Wires
The Nest Learning Thermostat 4th gen has no power adapter and does not plug into a wall socket, so the usual 110 V versus 220 V question does not arise. It draws power from the HVAC system’s 24 V thermostat wiring and keeps a built-in rechargeable lithium battery topped up. Google’s Power Sharing technology lets it run without a C (common) wire in most installations, and Google says a C wire or the separately sold Nest Power Connector is needed in fewer than 1% of cases.
On a UAE ducted system the 24 V supply comes from the transformer inside the air handler or the outdoor unit’s control board, which is why the wiring check matters: if there is no 24 V R wire at the thermostat, there is nothing to power the Nest.
Display, Soli Radar and Sensors
The Nest Learning Thermostat 4th gen has a 2.7-inch (68 mm) round LCD at 600 by 600 pixels, the largest display on a Nest thermostat, framed in polished silver metal. A Soli radar sensor provides Motion Sense, so the display wakes and shows the temperature or the time as you approach. Built-in sensors cover temperature, humidity and ambient light.
The included Nest Temperature Sensor (2nd gen) is a small wireless puck for another room, letting the thermostat target the bedroom temperature at night rather than the hallway where it is mounted. Google publishes its diameter as 98 mm, depth 29 mm and weight 161.8 g for the thermostat itself, with power consumption under 1 kWh per month.
Wi-Fi, Matter and the Google Home App
Connectivity is Wi-Fi 802.11n on 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. The Nest Learning Thermostat 4th gen is set up and controlled through the Google Home app and works with Matter, so it can appear in other Matter-capable ecosystems. Scheduling, remote control and the learning features are app functions; the temperature sensor pairs through the app as well.
The Nest Learning Thermostat 4th gen is delivered across the UAE in up to 3 business days, free on orders from AED 300, with a 1-year warranty from Totot, a 14-day return window for defective or non-compliant items, and shipping damage to be reported within 48 hours. Because compatibility depends on your wiring, confirm your system type before ordering; an incompatible system is not a product defect.
Who This Is Not For
Anyone whose AC is controlled by a handheld remote, a window unit, or a 220 V line-voltage thermostat on a chilled-water fan coil: the Nest Learning Thermostat 4th gen cannot control those systems, and no adapter changes that. Anyone who expects Google’s local services: Google lists this model for the United States and Canada only, so UAE weather, energy programmes and regional features are not offered, and Google support for UAE installations is not published.
Buyers who want Google’s warranty on the Nest Learning Thermostat 4th gen or the Pro 5-year warranty: neither applies in the UAE, only the 1-year warranty from Totot. Installation involves low-voltage wiring and, on some systems, a C wire or power connector that is sold separately; if you are not comfortable with that, budget for an AC technician.

FAQ
Does the Nest Learning Thermostat 4th gen work in the UAE?
No official UAE support is published by Google, which lists the thermostat for the United States and Canada only. It can physically control a UAE AC system only if that system uses a 24 V low-voltage wall thermostat with R, Y and G wiring, typical of central ducted AC in villas.
Does it work with a split AC that has a remote?
No. Split units controlled by an infrared remote have no thermostat wiring, and the Nest Learning Thermostat 4th gen has nothing to connect to.
Does it work with chilled-water fan coil units?
No, if the fan coil uses a 220 V line-voltage thermostat: Google states that high-voltage 120 V and 240 V systems are not compatible.
What is the difference between the Pro Edition and the retail version?
0 hardware differences: Google’s Pro version is the same 4th gen thermostat sold through HVAC installers, with an installer setup mode and a 5-year Pro warranty that applies only when a registered Nest Pro in the US or Canada installs it.
Does the Nest Learning Thermostat 4th gen need a 110 V or 220 V supply?
Neither. It has no mains adapter and is powered by the 24 V thermostat wiring of the AC system, with a built-in rechargeable battery.
Is the temperature sensor included with the Nest Learning Thermostat 4th gen?
Yes. Google lists the Nest Temperature Sensor (2nd gen) in the box of the standard bundle.
