MudRunner American Wilds PS4 – Over 30 Off-Road Trucks, 10 Sandbox Maps, Winch Physics, 4-Player Online Co-op – Retail Disc

The MudRunner American Wilds PS4 disc is the complete edition of the off-road driving simulator from developer Saber Interactive and publisher Focus Home Interactive. The base game, Spintires: MudRunner, launched on PS4 at the end of October 2017, and this American Wilds Edition followed on 23 October 2018. It bundles the base game, the American Wilds expansion and the previously released DLC, including The Ridge and The Valley. The genre is simulation: you guide heavy all-terrain vehicles through mud, rivers and forests using only a map, a compass and a winch.

Siberia and the Northern US, Mud Included

MudRunner has no cinematic story; the challenge is the land itself. The original game sends you into the harsh Siberian wilderness, and the American Wilds expansion takes the series to the Northern United States for the first time, with two new sandbox maps that Focus says were inspired by Montana, North Dakota and Minnesota. Each map is an open area full of deep mud, rivers, steep slopes and forest tracks. Your job is to complete objectives and deliveries, often carrying logs, in conditions that punish careless driving. Focus describes the edition as the definitive version of MudRunner, with more than 30 all-terrain vehicles, 60 add-ons, 10 sandbox maps and 11 challenge maps in total. The appeal is the slow, satisfying feeling of reaching a goal that the terrain seemed designed to stop.

Physics, Winches and Careful Driving

The heart of MudRunner is its physics engine. According to Focus, terrain, rivers and obstacles react realistically to the weight and movement of your vehicle, so mud deforms, wheels sink and water pushes against your truck. You plan your route on the map, check the compass, and decide when to switch on all-wheel drive or lock the differential. When you get stuck, you anchor the winch to a tree or another vehicle and pull yourself free. American Wilds adds seven American trucks from brands including Ford, Hummer and Chevrolet, joining the heavy Soviet-style machines of the original. Each vehicle handles differently, and add-ons such as cranes, trailers and fuel tanks change what it can do. Progress is slow on purpose: every crossing feels earned, and a rash decision can cost you a load.

Solo, Co-op and Challenge Maps

You can play the full game solo, which suits players who like to work at their own pace. Focus also confirms cooperative play with up to three other players, for four in total, where friends share deliveries and pull each other out of the mud. Online play on PS4 requires a PlayStation Plus membership. The 11 challenge maps set specific tasks with tighter rules, while the 10 sandbox maps leave you free to choose your order of objectives. There is no split-screen mode. PC mod support mentioned by Focus does not apply to the PS4 version.

Retail Disc, Region and PS5

You receive a new, factory-sealed retail disc of MudRunner: American Wilds Edition for PS4, with the base game and expansion content on the disc. PS4 games are region-free, so the disc plays on any PS4 console. Most PS4 games also run on PS5 consoles with a disc drive through backward compatibility; check Sony’s official list before buying for PS5. Delivered across the UAE in up to 3 business days, free on orders from AED 300.

Who This Is Not For

If you want fast racing, this is the wrong game: MudRunner is slow and methodical, and a single river crossing can take several minutes. There is no story campaign and no split-screen co-op, and multiplayer needs PlayStation Plus. The graphics date from 2017 to 2018 on PS4. Players who already own the newer SnowRunner may find the content familiar but smaller in scale.
