That is a continuous rating; many party speakers quote peak output, which gives a much larger number from similar hardware, so compare carefully. Inside there is one 135 mm (5.25-inch) woofer and two 20 mm (0.75-inch) dome tweeters, with a frequency response of 40 Hz to 20 kHz at -6 dB and a signal-to-noise ratio above 80 dB. Two wireless mics, echo and Smart Key Change
The reason to pick this edition of the JBL PartyBox On The Go 2 is the second microphone: two people can sing together without passing a mic back and forth. JBL rates the wireless mics at 50 Hz to 15 kHz (-6 dB), with a 2.4 GHz link in the 2404 to 2478 MHz band and a range of up to 30 m between mic and speaker. A full charge takes under 3.5 hours with the speaker off, and a 10-minute top-up adds about 80 minutes. For long events you can swap in a spare battery, sold separately, which JBL says roughly doubles the playtime. With the speaker off, a USB port can also charge your phone at up to 11 V / 2 A.
Bluetooth 5.4, Auracast, stereo and the app
Wireless playback on the JBL PartyBox On The Go 2 uses Bluetooth 5.4 with the A2DP 1.4, AVRCP 1.6, TMAP 1.0 and PBP 1.0 profiles. Auracast lets you link several compatible JBL Auracast speakers for a larger space, and two units can be paired in stereo for a wider stage. The JBL PartyBox app controls the music, EQ and the dynamic lightshow, whose patterns and strobe effects follow the beat. There is also an aux input, and USB playback of MP3, WAV and FLAC files, though JBL notes USB playback is not offered in the EMEA region, which includes the UAE.
Size, splash protection and UAE power
The JBL PartyBox On The Go 2 measures 501 x 258 x 221 mm and weighs 6.36 kg, so one person can carry it by the handle or on the included shoulder strap. IPX4 means it resists splashing water from any direction: poolside or a light spray is fine, but it must not be submerged, and there is no dust rating. JBL specifies a power input of 100 to 240 V at 50/60 Hz, which covers UAE mains, and a 2 m AC power cord is supplied with the plug type varying by region.
Who This Is Not For
If only one person will sing, the single-mic JBL PartyBox On The Go 2 gives the same speaker for less. At 100W RMS from one 5.25-inch woofer it is not meant for a large hall or a big outdoor crowd; the larger PartyBox models cover that. JBL does not list Wi-Fi for the JBL PartyBox On The Go 2, nor AirPlay, Chromecast or voice assistants, so it is not a smart or multi-room speaker, the spare battery costs extra, and USB music playback is not available on the EMEA version sold in the UAE.
