The JBL PartyBox Encore 2 is JBL’s compact karaoke party speaker, and this version comes with two digital wireless microphones in the box. It delivers 100W RMS from a 5.25-inch woofer and two dome tweeters, runs for up to 15 hours on its battery, is IPX4 splash-proof and adds a light show that moves with the music. Bluetooth 5.4 with Auracast lets you link it to more JBL speakers when one is not enough.

Sound: 100W RMS and AI Sound Boost on the JBL PartyBox Encore 2
JBL rates the JBL PartyBox Encore 2 at 100W RMS, measured to IEC 60268, which is continuous power rather than a peak figure; JBL does not publish a peak rating for it. The sound comes from one 5.25-inch (135 mm) woofer and two dome tweeters, with a frequency response of 40Hz to 20kHz (-6dB).
AI Sound Boost is JBL’s processing that analyses the music and, in JBL’s words, delivers more power with less distortion at higher volumes. It is aimed at the moment a small speaker usually struggles, when you turn it up in a garden or a majlis full of people.
Karaoke with two wireless mics
Two digital wireless microphones come with this JBL PartyBox Encore 2, together with two mic holders. They work on 2.4GHz with a range of up to 30 m, each runs for up to 10 hours on its 240mAh battery, and you can adjust echo, bass and treble for the voice.
The mic frequency response is 50Hz to 15kHz with a signal-to-noise ratio above 59dBA, according to JBL’s owner’s manual. There is also a wired mic input and a guitar input with gain control, so a singer and a guitarist can play live through the same speaker.
Battery and charging
The JBL PartyBox Encore 2 runs for up to 15 hours on a full charge; JBL notes that playtime varies with volume level and audio content. A full charge takes under 3.5 hours with the speaker switched off, and JBL lists a 10-minute quick charge as good for about 80 minutes of play.
The battery is JBL Battery 200 (Li-ion, 7.4V / 4722mAh), and JBL sells a spare separately. A USB-C port can charge your phone from the speaker, and the speaker accepts 100 to 240V mains power, which covers the UAE supply.
Light show, Auracast and the PartyBox app
The dynamic light show on the JBL PartyBox Encore 2 syncs patterns and strobe effects to the beat. The JBL PartyBox app controls the music, the EQ and the light show from your phone.
Bluetooth 5.4 brings Auracast, so you can pair two Encore 2 units for stereo or connect more Auracast-enabled JBL speakers to the same music. A 3.5 mm aux input and USB playback of MP3, WAV and FLAC files cover sources without Bluetooth.
Size, weight and splash protection
The speaker measures 31.95 × 33.86 × 26.3 cm and weighs 6.4 kg. That is portable enough to carry from the car to a beach spot or from the living room to the roof, but it is a two-handed lift rather than a shoulder bag.
IPX4 means it is protected against splashing water, such as drinks or a sprinkler, from any direction. It carries no dust rating and is not meant to be submerged or left in the rain.
Who This Is Not For
If you want automatic vocal removal for karaoke, the JBL PartyBox Encore 2 does not have it; JBL offers that on the separate Encore 2 Plus model. At 6.4 kg it is also too heavy for long walks, and IPX4 is splash protection only, with no protection against sand and dust.
Anyone shopping by peak watts should note that JBL publishes only the 100W RMS figure. And each wireless mic lasts up to 10 hours, so very long events need a charging break for the mics as well as the speaker.
