The JBL Flip 6 Martin Garrix edition is a special edition of JBL’s Flip 6 created with the Dutch DJ and producer Martin Garrix. JBL describes an exclusive pattern that is meaningful to Martin and his community, built around his distinctive “+x” logo, and Garrix himself says the logo was put “all over as a bold pattern”. Underneath is the Flip 6: a two-way speaker with a 20W RMS woofer and a 10W RMS tweeter, IP67 protection and up to 12 hours of playtime.

The +x Pattern on the JBL Flip 6 Martin Garrix
JBL announced the JBL Flip 6 Martin Garrix in October 2023 to celebrate its partnership with the DJ. In the press release Garrix explains the idea in his own words: “We customized the speaker by putting my +x logo all over as a bold pattern. It’s subtle but still recognizable.” JBL’s story page adds that the logo is rendered in a bold 3D style you can almost feel.
The effect is a speaker that reads as a plain dark Flip from across the room and reveals the repeating +x marks up close. In the product photographs the pattern covers the fabric body, with the JBL logo on the front as usual. It is a design for people who know the logo, rather than a loud print aimed at everyone.
A Special Edition, Not a New Colour
JBL presents this as a collaboration, not a colourway. It launched on October 16, 2023, with a pop-up at Amsterdam Dance Event that week, and JBL’s story page calls it a limited-edition drop. That is why we list it as its own product rather than as a colour choice of the regular Flip 6.
If you simply want a Flip 6 in black, blue or another standard colour, the regular Flip 6 is the right page. The JBL Flip 6 Martin Garrix makes sense for fans of the artist, for a gift to someone who follows his music, or for anyone who likes a speaker with a story attached.
Flip 6 Sound: 20W RMS Woofer and 10W RMS Tweeter
The hardware is the Flip 6 described on JBL’s spec sheet. A 45 x 80 mm racetrack woofer is driven at 20W RMS and a separate 16 mm tweeter at 10W RMS, with two passive radiators for bass. Those are continuous RMS figures per driver, so the 30W total is not a peak rating. Frequency response is 63 Hz to 20 kHz, with a signal-to-noise ratio above 80 dB.
The split between woofer and tweeter is the main reason a Flip sounds cleaner than single-driver speakers of the same size: vocals and cymbals have their own driver instead of sharing one with the bass.
Battery, IP67 and PartyBoost
JBL rates playtime at up to 12 hours, depending on volume level and audio content, from a 17.28 Wh (3.6 V / 4800 mAh) Li-ion polymer battery. A full charge takes about 2.5 hours with a 5 V / 3 A USB-C supply. The JBL press release for the edition repeats the IP67 rating, so the speaker is dust-tight and can be submerged in fresh water.
Bluetooth 5.1 connects your phone, and PartyBoost links the JBL Flip 6 Martin Garrix with other PartyBoost-compatible JBL speakers for stereo or a bigger sound. The JBL Portable app handles updates and sound customisation.
Who This Is Not For
Owners of newer JBL speakers such as the Flip 7 should know that the Flip 6 uses PartyBoost, not Auracast, so it will not join an Auracast group. JBL lists no wired audio input and no microphone, so it cannot play from a 3.5 mm cable or work as a speakerphone.
There is no charger in the box, only a USB-C cable, and no powerbank output for charging a phone. And if you do not care about the Martin Garrix design, the standard Flip 6 gives you the same sound and battery without paying for the special edition.
