Green Lion describes the Green Lion 6-in-1 Salad Maker as six disc blades covering three functions: slicing, shredding and chopping. The discs swap by hand on top of the motor, and the differences between them are mostly the thickness and the cut. Green Lion does not publish a separate description of each disc, so we do not name them on its behalf. The blades are SUS430 and SUS420 stainless steel. These magnetic stainless grades hold an edge well but resist rust less than 304 grade, so rinse and dry the discs after washing rather than leaving them wet in the rack.
What it handles well, and what it does not
The Green Lion 6-in-1 Salad Maker is at its best with firm food that can be pushed down the chute: carrots, cucumbers, potatoes, courgettes, cabbage, beetroot and hard or chilled cheese such as cheddar or mozzarella. Coleslaw for a family or grated cheese for a pizza takes moments. Soft tomatoes and ripe fruit tend to squash rather than slice. It is not designed for meat, leafy herbs such as parsley, lettuce, nuts or finely minced onion for kibbeh; those are jobs for a chopper, a food processor or a knife.
200W at 480 RPM: slow on purpose
A blender spins at many thousands of RPM because it whips and liquidises food. A slicer and shredder works differently: the disc cuts, and cutting needs torque at low speed. That is why Green Lion rates this machine at 480 RPM with a 200W motor. The low speed keeps slices even and stops soft vegetables turning to mush. Green Lion also lists a noise level below 80dB, which is quieter than most high-speed blenders. Control is a single knob, so there are no menus or programmes to learn.
Bowl, lid lock and cleaning
The prep volume is 900mL, so for a large salad you empty the bowl once or twice. The lid is safety-locked, a useful detail in a kitchen with children around. An anti-slip base keeps the Green Lion 6-in-1 Salad Maker steady on the counter while you push food through. The body is ABS plastic with food-grade materials where food touches. Green Lion describes it as easy to clean and assemble: the discs and bowl come off, and the motor base only needs a wipe. The power cord is 1 metre long with a BS plug.
