The Dyson WashG1 is Dyson’s first dedicated wet floor cleaner. It is not a vacuum: there is no suction motor and no filter. Instead, two counter-rotating motorised rollers covered in absorbent microfibre wash the floor and pick up wet and dry mess in the same pass, from crumbs and hair to spilt juice and dried-on marks. Dirty water goes into its own tank and solid debris into a separate tray, so emptying it never means pouring a mix of water and hair down the sink. It is made for sealed hard floors such as tile, marble, vinyl and laminate, which cover most UAE homes.

Two rollers, no suction
Most wet cleaners combine a roller with a suction motor that pulls water and dirt into one tank. The Dyson WashG1 does it differently: two rollers spin in opposite directions and pick up the mess mechanically. Dyson says the microfibre carries 64,800 filaments per square centimetre to absorb liquid, while 26 hydration points spread clean water evenly across the rollers. Because there is no suction and no filter, there is also no damp filter left to smell, which is the usual weakness of wet cleaners in a warm climate.
Water and debris kept apart
Behind the rollers, the Dyson WashG1 separates what it collects. Dirty water is extracted into a 0.8-litre tank that lifts out for no-touch emptying, while hair, crumbs and other solids are pushed into a quick-release debris tray that you empty straight into the bin. The clean water tank holds 1 litre, and Dyson calculates coverage at up to 290 square metres per tank, based on cleaning without going over the same area twice at 0.5 metres per second. In a normal apartment that is usually the whole floor in one fill.
Three water levels plus MAX
The blue button on the handle switches between water levels, because a light wipe and a dried-on stain need different amounts of water. Dyson describes level 1 for debris, hair and light spills; level 2 for mealtime mess, spills and wet footprints; and level 3 for sticky spills, muddy boot marks and dried-on stains. A MAX setting adds extra water for stubborn dirt. The four-cell click-in lithium-ion battery delivers up to 35 minutes of washing, and higher water levels draw on it faster, so plan larger homes room by room.
Self-cleaning on the dock
After washing, you stand the Dyson WashG1 on its charging dock and run the self-clean cycle. Dyson says it flushes the system in 140 seconds while the machine charges, rinsing the rollers and the internal water path. You still empty the dirty water tank and the debris tray after each session, and the rollers can be taken out to dry fully. Leaving the machine with water in the tanks is what causes odour in any wet cleaner, so a quick empty after every use keeps it fresh.
Size and weight
Dyson lists the WashG1 at 4.9 kg, which is about twice the weight of a cordless stick vacuum; the weight is mostly water and battery, and the machine rolls on the floor as you clean, so you push it rather than lift it. It measures 1,140 mm tall, 300 mm wide and 225 mm long, and stands upright on its dock in a corner of the kitchen or utility room. The box contains the WashG1, the charging dock, the microfibre rollers and the charger.
Who This Is Not For
The Dyson WashG1 does not clean carpets, rugs, sofas or car interiors, so you still need a vacuum cleaner for those. It is designed for sealed hard floors, not untreated wood. At 4.9 kg it is heavy to carry upstairs, and the 35-minute run time shrinks at higher water levels. It cannot reach under low furniture the way a slim stick vacuum can.
