The Beats Pill Champagne Gold is the current Beats Pill portable speaker (model MW463) in a soft metallic gold that looks more like a piece of decor than a gadget. Beats rates it at up to 24 hours of playback per charge, with IP67 dust and water resistance, a redesigned racetrack woofer and an updated tweeter. A single USB-C port charges the speaker, plays lossless audio from a cable, and can even charge your phone. It weighs 680 g, comes with a removable lanyard, and pairs with both iPhone and Android.

A gold speaker made to be seen
Most portable speakers come in black, grey or a bright sporty colour. Champagne Gold takes a different route: a warm, pale gold body with a matching grille that sits naturally on a living-room shelf, a dressing table or a dinner table set for guests. It pairs well with brass, beige, cream and wood interiors, and it does not look out of place next to gold jewellery or a light iPhone. Because the colour is light, fingerprints are less visible than on Matte Black, though dust on the grille will show if the Beats Pill Champagne Gold lives outdoors. A dry soft cloth is enough for routine cleaning.
Sound: racetrack woofer and updated tweeter
Beats redesigned the acoustic hardware for this generation. A bigger, bespoke racetrack woofer moves 90% more air, according to Beats, and upgraded neodymium magnets give it 28% greater motor force, aimed at deeper, fuller bass. An updated tweeter handles crisp highs and a rich mid-range. Beats compares these figures with its own previous design and does not publish frequency response or output power, so we do not quote them. In practice the Beats Pill Champagne Gold is a single-speaker design; true left and right separation needs a second Pill in Stereo Mode.
24 hours of battery and phone charging
Beats rates the Beats Pill Champagne Gold at up to 24 hours of playback on a single charge; actual time depends on volume and content. When the battery runs low, Fast Fuel gives up to 2 hours of playback from a 10-minute charge. The USB-C port works both ways: connect your phone with a USB-C cable and the Pill charges it, which helps on a long beach day or camping trip. The USB-C to USB-C cable is in the box, but the power adapter is sold separately.
IP67, lanyard and outdoor use
IP67 means the speaker is protected against dust and can handle immersion in water under the conditions of that rating, so sand, pool splashes and a sudden shower are not a problem. A removable lanyard and soft-grip silicone backing make it easy to carry or hang. At 21.9 cm long and 680 g, the Beats Pill Champagne Gold is portable but not tiny; it fits a beach bag or backpack rather than a pocket.
USB-C lossless audio, calls and pairing modes
Plug the Pill into a phone or laptop with the included cable and it plays high-resolution lossless audio over USB-C instead of compressed Bluetooth. Over Bluetooth it uses Class 1 Bluetooth 5.3 for extended range. It doubles as a speakerphone for calls. Two Beats Pill speakers can work in Stereo Mode, splitting left and right channels, or Amplify Mode, playing the same audio for more volume. One-touch pairing works on iOS and Android, and the speaker shows up in Apple Find My or Google Find My Device.
Who This Is Not For
The Beats Pill Champagne Gold is not for people who want a pocket speaker: at 680 g and nearly 22 cm long it needs a bag. A single unit cannot produce real stereo separation, so stereo needs a second Pill. Beats does not publish output power or frequency response, so anyone comparing speakers on watts will not find a figure here. The power adapter is not included, and a light gold finish shows dust on the grille when used often outdoors.
