The HUAWEI FreeClip 2 S Space Silver is the colour for people who treat earbuds as an accessory rather than something to hide. The pale metallic tone catches light from most angles, so on the ear it reads like a small piece of silver jewellery, and it sits naturally with silver or white-gold watches, rings and earrings. It is easy to see against dark hair, which some wearers like and others do not. Open-ear fit and the softer C-bridge
The HUAWEI FreeClip 2 S Space Silver uses what Huawei calls the Comfort Bean: the part that rests at the opening of the ear, shaped using more than 10,000 ear samples. It does not seal the canal, so you hear traffic, announcements and colleagues while you listen. The C-bridge behind the ear is liquid silicone, 25% softer than the first FreeClip according to Huawei and finished in about 50 steps, which reduces pressure during long wear. A reverse sound-wave system is designed to limit how much of your audio leaks out, and the earbuds detect left and right automatically, so either bud can go on either ear.
Sound: 10.8 mm dual-diaphragm driver and NPU
Each HUAWEI FreeClip 2 S Space Silver bud carries a 10.8 mm dual-diaphragm driver with a frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz. Compared with the original FreeClip, Huawei says low-frequency performance and maximum volume are up 100% in its lab tests, and the on-board NPU has ten times the computing power. Open-ear earbuds will never deliver the deep bass of a sealed in-ear design, but this is a clear step forward for the category. Spatial audio with dynamic head tracking is listed as arriving through an OTA update, and the HUAWEI Audio Connect app gives EQ presets and custom sound settings on both iOS and Android.
Calls, controls and two devices
Three microphones work with multi-channel DNN algorithms to separate your voice from background noise on calls. Controls are touch-based: double-tap to play, pause or answer, triple-tap for the next track, and swipe up or down for volume. Head gestures can be switched on so you nod to accept a call or shake your head to decline one; Huawei notes these work with cellular calls only and are off by default. The HUAWEI FreeClip 2 S Space Silver uses Bluetooth 6.0 and can stay connected to two devices at once, for example a phone and a laptop, switching between them as needed.

Note that no USB-C cable is included in the box. The HUAWEI FreeClip 2 S Space Silver earbuds are rated IP57 and the case IP54, but Huawei advises against wearing them for swimming or in the shower.
Who This Is Not For
The HUAWEI FreeClip 2 S Space Silver are not for anyone who wants to block out noise: the open-ear design has no seal and no active noise cancellation, so flights and the metro stay loud. Bass is lighter than in sealed in-ear earbuds, people nearby may hear your music at high volume in quiet rooms, and the mirrored silver case shows fingerprints. There is no USB-C cable in the box, and they are not meant for swimming or showering.
