Horizon Forbidden West PS5 is the sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn, published by Sony Interactive Entertainment and made by Guerrilla, released on 18 February 2022. It is an action RPG set in a far-future, post-apocalyptic America: Aloy heads into a majestic but dangerous frontier to face towering machines and uncover the cause of deadly storms, a spreading blight and the collapse of life on Earth. On PS5, PlayStation lists 4K and HDR output on compatible displays, a Performance Mode targeting 60fps, fast loading from the SSD, and DualSense haptic feedback and adaptive triggers.

Aloy’s journey into the Forbidden West
The story of Horizon Forbidden West PS5 picks up after the first game. The world is falling apart under storms and a blight that kills crops and land, and Aloy travels west into unknown territory to find the source. Along the way she meets new tribes, old allies and enemies, and uncovers secrets from the distant past. The region mixes deserts, snowy mountains, forests, coastlines and the remains of old cities, many of them now reclaimed by nature, and much of it is open to explore at your own pace.
Machines and combat
Fights against machines are the core of the game. Each machine has components and weak points you can target with bows, traps and other tools, and choosing the right ammunition and elemental damage matters as much as aim. Human enemies add close-range melee and ranged fights. In Horizon Forbidden West PS5 the adaptive triggers add resistance when you draw a bow, and haptic feedback lets you feel actions and terrain through the DualSense, as listed by PlayStation.
PS5 features and performance
PlayStation lists the PS5 features as 4K and HDR output with a compatible display, a Performance Mode that targets 60fps, the ultra-high-speed SSD for fast loading and fast travel, Tempest 3D AudioTech on compatible headphones and DualSense haptics and adaptive triggers. The game is also PS5 Pro Enhanced. Sony does not publish native rendering resolutions for each mode on the product page, so we describe the modes only as PlayStation lists them.
Languages including Arabic
On its UK store page, PlayStation lists spoken audio in Arabic, English, French, German, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish, and on-screen text in 24 languages including Arabic. That makes Horizon Forbidden West PS5 one of the few big open-world games where players can choose Arabic voice and menus. Language availability on a physical disc can depend on the region of the copy, so if Arabic audio matters to you, check the box or ask us before ordering.
Editions, rating and who it suits
This is the standard game. The Burning Shores expansion, which continues Aloy’s story after the main quest, is sold separately or as part of the Complete Edition. The game is single-player with offline play and is rated PEGI 16 for violence and in-game purchases. It suits players who enjoy large open worlds, tactical combat against big creatures and a long story, and it is also a strong title to show what a PS5 and a 4K HDR television can do.
Who This Is Not For
Horizon Forbidden West PS5 is not for players under 16, given its PEGI 16 rating. It has no multiplayer. The Burning Shores expansion is not included in this standard version. Players looking for a short game should know it is a long open-world RPG. Arabic audio availability on a physical disc can vary by the copy’s region.
