2K Video and a 180-Degree View
Xiaomi lists 2K resolution with 3 million pixels, enough to make out faces and read a parcel label in the recording. Xiaomi does not publish the exact pixel dimensions or the image sensor model.
The lens covers a 180-degree diagonal view, and Xiaomi says the vertical angle reaches 107 degrees. In practice that means the Xiaomi Smart Doorbell 3S sees a visitor from head to toe rather than just a face: installed at 1.5 metres, it captures the full body of someone standing 1.1 metres away, according to Xiaomi. A parcel left on the floor in front of the door is also more likely to stay in frame.
AI Human Detection and Alerts
A human body sensor works together with AI human shape detection. When a person comes into view, the Xiaomi Smart Doorbell 3S records the event and sends an alert to your phone through the Xiaomi Home app. You can set a monitoring area so a busy street or a neighbour’s door does not keep triggering it.
Clips from the Xiaomi Smart Doorbell 3S go to free rolling 72-hour cloud storage: each video is kept for three days and then deleted. Xiaomi’s specification sheet lists cloud storage only, with no microSD card slot, so save any clip you need to keep before the three days are up.
If someone tries to pull the doorbell off the wall, a forced-removal alarm sounds, records video and notifies you. The mount uses strong 3M adhesive plus screws, and Xiaomi adds a security chip for encryption.
Night Vision
The Xiaomi Smart Doorbell 3S uses six built-in 940nm infrared lights for the dark. 940nm infrared is practically invisible to the eye, so there is no red glow on the doorbell at night, and Xiaomi includes a night vision sensitivity adjustment. Xiaomi does not publish a night vision distance.
Battery or Hardwired Power
The Xiaomi Smart Doorbell 3S has a 5200mAh lithium battery that charges over USB-C. In Xiaomi’s lab test, with twenty 10-second videos recorded every day in standard mode, it lasted 4.2 months, which Xiaomi rounds to charging about three times a year. More visitors, a busy street and night recording all shorten that.
If your door already has bell wiring, you can connect it to an 8-24VAC, 10-40VA supply instead, and Xiaomi includes U-type extension wires and insulating caps for that. Hardwiring should be done by someone comfortable with electrical work.
Chime, Voice and App
The included indoor chime (MJJSQ04-FJ) receives the ring over 433MHz radio and offers four volume levels plus a do-not-disturb mode. Xiaomi lists its power input as 5V 1A; a power adapter for the chime is not listed in the box.
Two-way voice lets you talk to a courier from your phone, and you can record a welcome message that plays automatically when a visitor presses the button. The doorbell connects to 2.4GHz Wi-Fi: Xiaomi’s feature page mentions a Wi-Fi 6 chip, while its specification sheet lists IEEE 802.11b/g/n. It does not use 5GHz. Who This Is Not For
Not for homes that need local recording. There is no microSD slot, and cloud clips are kept for 72 hours only.
Not for doors that get direct afternoon sun in peak UAE summer without shade. Xiaomi rates the doorbell up to 50 degrees Celsius, and a dark device in full sun can run hotter than the air.
Not for 5GHz-only Wi-Fi networks. It needs a 2.4GHz signal at the door, so check coverage there before installing.
Not a plug-and-play chime: Xiaomi does not list a power adapter for the indoor chime, so you need a 5V USB adapter.
