The Dyson Airwrap i.d. HS08 Amber Silk is the special-edition version of the first Airwrap with Bluetooth. It connects to the MyDyson app, which asks a short hair quiz and then programs i.d. curl, a one-button sequence that wraps, styles and sets each curl for you. Like every Airwrap, it styles with Coanda airflow rather than extreme heat: Dyson rates the motor at 110,000rpm, the airflow at 13.5 litres per second and keeps the temperature under 150°C. This is the Straight+Wavy kit in Amber Silk with Pink Champagne details, made for the Hong Kong market, which uses the same 220 V supply and three-pin square plug as the UAE.

What i.d. curl changes
On earlier Airwraps you judged the timing yourself: how long to wrap, when to switch to cold, how long to hold. On the Dyson Airwrap i.d. HS08 Amber Silk, the MyDyson app builds those steps into a sequence after a hair quiz, and Dyson says this makes curling easier at the push of a button compared with the original Airwrap. You press the button, the barrel wraps and styles the section, then the cold shot sets it. The app also gives styling guides, troubleshooting notifications and reminders to clean the filter, and Dyson pushes product updates to the styler through it. The styler still works fully by hand with the buttons if you do not want to use the phone.
Six attachments in the Straight+Wavy kit
Dyson lists the box for this configuration as the conical Airwrap barrel, the 40mm Airwrap long barrel, the anti-snag loop brush, the large round volumising brush, the Dryer+Flyaway smoother and the fast dryer, plus a filter cleaning brush. On the Dyson Airwrap i.d. HS08 Amber Silk, the conical barrel is the one that does i.d. curl: it reverses direction at the press of a button, so the same barrel curls both sides of the head. The 40mm long barrel gives looser waves, the loop brush and round brush smooth and add volume, and the fast dryer and flyaway smoother take hair from wet to dry before styling. Dyson states all the attachments also fit earlier Airwrap models.
Airflow, heat and settings
For the Dyson Airwrap i.d. HS08 Amber Silk, Dyson lists 1,300W of power, a motor that spins at 110,000rpm and airflow of 13.5 litres per second. Rather than clamping hair against a hot plate, the Coanda effect makes the fast air cling to the barrel, so the hair follows it and wraps on its own. Dyson keeps the temperature under 150°C and gives three heat settings and three speed settings, plus a cold shot to set the shape and an ioniser that helps reduce static. Dyson does not publish a cable length for this model. The Dyson Airwrap i.d. HS08 Amber Silk weighs about 0.61 kg according to Dyson, and measures 272mm long, 48mm wide and 41mm deep.
The Amber Silk special edition
Amber Silk is a warm, honey-toned finish with Pink Champagne accents, sold by Dyson as a special edition alongside the regular colours. With this edition Dyson includes a presentation case and a detangling comb, so the styler and all six attachments have a fixed place instead of sitting loose in a drawer. On the Dyson Airwrap i.d. HS08 Amber Silk the finish changes the look only: motor, heat control, app features and attachments are the same as other HS08 Straight+Wavy colours. The warm tone looks good on a vanity or bathroom shelf, and the satin surface hides fingerprints better than a glossy finish, which helps on a tool you handle every morning.
Hong Kong version in the UAE
This Dyson Airwrap i.d. HS08 Amber Silk unit was made for Hong Kong. Dyson notes that each unit is built for the market where it is sold, and Hong Kong runs on 220 V at 50Hz with the same square three-pin plug used in the UAE, so it plugs straight into a UAE socket without an adapter or converter. The MyDyson app pairs with the Dyson Airwrap i.d. HS08 Amber Silk the same way, and the menus are in English. Bear in mind that Dyson’s own warranty is handled in the country of sale, so for this imported unit the cover comes from Totot rather than from Dyson in the UAE.
Who This Is Not For
The Dyson Airwrap i.d. HS08 Amber Silk does not suit anyone who only dries their hair, since a dedicated Supersonic dryer costs less. Very short hair gains little from the barrels, and people with very thick or long hair should expect styling to take longer than with a hot iron. Dyson does not publish the cable length, the Dyson Airwrap i.d. HS08 Amber Silk needs a smartphone for i.d. curl, and because this is a Hong Kong unit it is not covered by Dyson’s UAE warranty.
