The Apple AirPods 4 on this listing are the standard model, without Active Noise Cancellation. Apple launched AirPods 4 in 2024 in two versions, and this is the simpler one: the same open-fit shape and H2 chip, but no ANC, no Transparency mode and a case that charges only over USB-C. In return you get the longest battery of the pair per charge, up to 5 hours, and a lower price. If you never liked silicone ear tips and simply want good everyday AirPods, this is the one.

Apple AirPods 4 or AirPods 4 with ANC?
Both versions share the earbud shape, the H2 chip, Voice Isolation and Personalized Spatial Audio. The AirPods 4 with Active Noise Cancellation add ANC, Transparency, Adaptive Audio and Conversation Awareness, plus a case that also charges wirelessly and has a speaker for Find My.
The standard Apple AirPods 4 skip all of that. Choose them if you listen mostly at home, in the office or on walks where you want to hear your surroundings anyway, and put the saving towards something else. If you want to block engine noise on flights, pay for ANC or look at AirPods 5, Apple’s newer generation, where noise cancellation is standard.
An open fit designed for comfort
Apple AirPods 4 rest at the entrance of the ear rather than sealing it, so there is no pressure from ear tips and no blocked-ear feeling on long calls. Each earbud measures 30.2 x 18.3 x 18.1 mm and weighs 4.3 g. Because the ear is not sealed, you naturally hear traffic, announcements and people nearby, which suits walking in the city and working in shared spaces.
A pressure-equalisation vent system is part of the design, and an optical in-ear sensor pauses playback when you take an earbud out.
H2 chip, sound and Voice Isolation
A custom high-excursion Apple driver and a custom high dynamic range amplifier drive the sound, and Adaptive EQ tunes it to the fit in your ear. Personalized Spatial Audio with dynamic head tracking places films and music around you on supported Apple devices.
For calls, the H2 chip powers Voice Isolation, which uses dual beamforming microphones, an inward-facing microphone and a speech-detecting accelerometer to keep your voice clear over wind and background noise.
Battery life, with Apple’s conditions
Apple rates the Apple AirPods 4 at up to 5 hours of listening per charge and up to 30 hours of total listening with the case. Five minutes in the case gives around 1 hour of listening. Apple measured at 50% volume with Spatial Audio off, so turning Spatial Audio on or listening louder will shorten these figures.
The case charges over USB-C only. It has no wireless charging and no speaker. Apple sells the USB-C cable separately.
Controls, Siri and compatibility
A force sensor on each stem handles controls: press once to play, pause or answer a call, press twice to skip forward or end a call, press three times to skip back, and press and hold for Siri. You can also start Siri by voice. Bluetooth 5.3 connects to iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch and Apple TV on current software, with accessibility features such as Live Listen, headphone levels and Headphone Accommodations.
On Android and other non-Apple devices, Apple AirPods 4 work as ordinary Bluetooth earbuds, without most of the Apple-specific features.
Durability and what is in the box
Apple rates AirPods 4 IP54 for dust, sweat and water resistance, enough for workouts and light rain, but not for swimming or rinsing under a tap. The case measures 46.2 x 50.1 x 21.2 mm and weighs 32.3 g.
In the box: AirPods 4, the Charging Case (USB-C) and documentation. No cable is included.
Who This Is Not For
Frequent flyers and metro commuters who want quiet: there is no Active Noise Cancellation on this model. Anyone who wants to drop their AirPods on a wireless charger or track a lost case by sound, since those features belong to the ANC version. Android users who want the full feature set. And people who prefer a secure, sealed in-ear fit for running, because the open fit does not lock into the ear canal.
