The Samsung Galaxy XCover7 is Samsung’s rugged work phone, built for warehouses, building sites and field jobs where an ordinary phone would not last. It carries an IP68 rating, Samsung tested it against MIL-STD-810H conditions, it is designed to survive drops of up to 1.5 m onto steel, and its 4,050 mAh battery can be swapped by the user. Inside are 6GB of RAM, 128GB of storage with microSD support up to 1TB, 5G, NFC and a 6.6-inch FHD+ screen that works with thin gloves.

Galaxy XCover7 Durability, With Samsung’s Conditions
Samsung rates the Galaxy XCover7 IP68 for water and dust, and states the test condition plainly: submersion in up to 1.5 metres of freshwater for up to 30 minutes, in a lab. Salt water, pool water and pressure jets are not part of that test. The screen can be used in wet conditions, but Samsung notes the phone should not be operated fully submerged.
MIL-STD-810H is a US military test standard, and Samsung describes it as testing against specific environmental conditions including altitude, humidity, immersion, salt fog, dust, vibration and drops. Passing those tests does not make the Galaxy XCover7 indestructible. Samsung says it is designed to be shock-resistant for drops of up to 1.5 m onto steel surfaces, and the display is covered with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+.
A Battery You Can Replace
The Galaxy XCover7 uses a 4,050 mAh (typical) battery that the user can replace. For shift work that means a spare battery can go in when the first one runs out, instead of waiting at a charger. Samsung notes that extra batteries are sold separately and that only Samsung-certified replaceable batteries are compatible.
Fast charging needs an adapter of 15W or more, according to Samsung. There is also a POGO pin connector, which Samsung lists for charging only — useful with charging cradles in fleet setups — alongside the USB-C (USB 2.0) port.
Screen and Glove Touch
The display is a 6.6-inch FHD+ TFT panel in a 20:9 shape with a 60Hz refresh rate. A touch sensitivity mode improves response for leather gloves thinner than 2 mm, based on Samsung’s lab tests. On the Galaxy XCover7 this is the difference between answering a call on site and taking your gloves off every time.
The XCover Key and Samsung Knox
A programmable XCover key on the side can open a chosen app or function — a barcode scanner, a push-to-talk app or the torch, for example. Samsung notes that key mapping support varies by app and that programmable keys are limited to select functions. For business use, the Galaxy XCover7 includes Samsung Knox with Knox Vault, and face recognition for unlocking.
Performance, Storage and Connectivity
Samsung lists a 6nm octa-core processor, 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, expandable with a microSD card of up to 1TB. The Galaxy XCover7 launched with Android 14. Connectivity covers 5G and LTE, Wi-Fi 5 (802.11 a/b/g/n/ac) with Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 5.3 and NFC, and there is a 3.5 mm headphone jack. Samsung notes that 5G availability and speeds depend on the market, carrier and conditions.
Cameras and Size
The rear camera is a 50MP wide camera at f/1.8 with a flash, and the front camera is 5MP at f/2.0 — enough for documenting jobs, scanning codes and video calls rather than for photography. The Galaxy XCover7 measures 169.0 × 80.1 × 10.2 mm and weighs 240 g, which is thicker and heavier than a typical consumer phone because of its rugged build.
Who This Is Not For
The Galaxy XCover7 is not a camera phone or a gaming phone: the 50MP main camera and 6nm octa-core chip are for work, and the 60Hz TFT screen is plainer than the AMOLED panels on Galaxy A and S models. At 240 g and 10.2 mm thick it is heavy for a pocket. IP68 covers freshwater only under Samsung’s lab conditions, so it is not a phone for swimming or saltwater use. And if you do not need drop, water and glove features, a mainstream Galaxy gives you a better screen for the money.
