The ViewSonic Omni VX2418C is a 24-inch Full HD gaming monitor with a 1500R curved VA panel, a 165Hz refresh rate over DisplayPort and AMD FreeSync Premium. ViewSonic sold it under its Omni gaming line, and its appeal is simple: high-refresh 1080p gaming with deep VA contrast in a size that fits any desk. Below we separate the headline numbers from the conditions ViewSonic attaches to them, especially the 1ms figure.

Table of Contents
ViewSonic Omni VX2418C: Refresh Rate by Input
ViewSonic’s VX2418C user guide lists 1920 × 1080 at up to 165Hz as the recommended mode, and ViewSonic’s US specification splits it by input: up to 165Hz over DisplayPort and up to 144Hz over HDMI 1.4. To get the full 165Hz on a PC, use the DisplayPort cable in the box. Consoles connect over HDMI, where 144Hz is the ceiling.
One caution: ViewSonic’s current datasheets for newer VX2418C production list a 180Hz refresh rate, while the Omni listing and user guide describe the 165Hz version. We sell and describe the ViewSonic Omni VX2418C as a 165Hz monitor; if 180Hz matters to you, ask us before ordering.
1ms MPRT vs GtG: What the Response Time Really Means
The 1ms on the box is an MPRT figure (moving picture response time), which measures how long an image stays visible and is usually achieved with a backlight strobing mode. It is not the same as GtG (grey-to-grey), which measures how fast pixels change colour.
For GtG, ViewSonic’s US specification gives 5ms typical. The user guide goes further and lists GtG averages by overdrive setting: 25ms in Standard, 7ms in Advanced and 4ms in Ultra Fast, measured at 100% brightness and contrast. In practice, set overdrive to Advanced or Ultra Fast for fast games on the ViewSonic Omni VX2418C.
The 1500R Curve and VA Contrast
1500R means the screen follows the curve of a circle with a 1.5-metre radius, a fairly strong bend for a 24-inch panel. It pulls the edges of the image towards your eyes at normal desk distance. The VA panel in the ViewSonic Omni VX2418C gives 3000:1 static contrast (typical), so dark scenes look deeper than on a typical IPS monitor, with 178° viewing angles horizontally and vertically.
ViewSonic lists 250 cd/m² typical brightness, 16.7 million colours from an 8-bit (6-bit + FRC) panel, and colour gamut of 103% sRGB and 72% NTSC by size. HDR10 input is supported, but at 250 nits the ViewSonic Omni VX2418C accepts HDR signals rather than delivering bright HDR highlights.
FreeSync Premium and Eye Comfort
AMD FreeSync Premium matches the refresh rate to your graphics card’s frame rate to remove tearing and stutter, and the Premium tier adds low frame-rate compensation. For long sessions, the ViewSonic Omni VX2418C has a flicker-free backlight and a software low-blue-light filter, plus an anti-glare 3H hard-coated surface.
Ports, Stand and Setup
On the ViewSonic Omni VX2418C you get two HDMI 1.4 inputs, one DisplayPort, a 3.5 mm audio output and two 2W speakers. The stand tilts from -5° to 20°; there is no height or swivel adjustment, but the 100 × 100 mm VESA pattern lets you fit a monitor arm. With the stand the monitor measures 540 × 413 × 209 mm and weighs 3.1 kg (2.6 kg without). Power comes from an external adapter rated AC 100–240V, and ViewSonic quotes 23W typical consumption.
Who This Is Not For
No HDMI cable is included with the ViewSonic Omni VX2418C, only DisplayPort. The stand adjusts for tilt only, so plan on a VESA arm if you need height adjustment. There is no USB-C or USB hub. At 250 nits it is not a bright-room or true HDR monitor, and Full HD on a 24-inch screen shows visible pixels to anyone coming from 1440p. The 6-bit + FRC panel is fine for gaming but not for colour-critical photo work.
