OnePlus Buds 4 Noise Cancelling: Up to 55dB
OnePlus describes the ANC on the OnePlus Buds 4 as real-time adaptive noise cancellation. It tailors the cancelling continuously to the shape of your ear canal and the noise around you, and OnePlus quotes up to 55dB of reduction within a 5,500Hz bandwidth, with adjustment up to 800 times per second. Like all ANC figures, these come from OnePlus’s own laboratory tests, and real results depend on fit and surroundings.
You get four noise control modes: ANC on, the new Adaptive mode, Transparency and ANC off. Adaptive mode switches between ANC and Transparency on its own so you stay aware of traffic, alarms and announcements when it matters. OnePlus also claims a 200% improvement in cancelling human voices compared with the OnePlus Buds 3, which is what makes a difference in open offices and cafes.
The noise cancelling carries TÜV’s High Performance Noise Cancellation certification, according to OnePlus.
Why Storm Gray
Storm Gray is a dark, neutral grey that sits comfortably next to black phones, laptops and work bags. It does not draw attention in a meeting and it hides everyday scuffs and fingerprints on the case much better than a light colour. If the earbuds are going to live in a laptop bag and be used for calls all day, this is the practical colour.

Two Drivers, Two DACs
Each OnePlus Buds 4 earbud has an 11mm woofer with a 30-layer ceramic-metal diaphragm and a 6mm tweeter with a planar diaphragm. Each driver has its own DAC, which OnePlus says allows separate control and tuning of the low and high frequencies. Frequency response is listed as 15Hz to 40kHz.
For wireless audio, the OnePlus Buds 4 support LHDC 5.0 at up to 1Mbps, 24-bit and 192kHz, plus AAC and SBC. OnePlus notes that Hi-Res audio is available on Android devices; iPhones do not support LHDC, so they connect over AAC.
Battery Life and Charging
OnePlus publishes battery life per setting, measured at 50% volume. With ANC off and AAC: up to 11 hours from the earbuds and up to 45 hours with the case. With ANC on and AAC: up to 6 hours and 24 hours. With ANC on and LHDC: up to 5.5 hours and 22 hours. Talk time with ANC on is up to 4 hours from the buds.
A 10-minute charge gives up to 11 hours of playback when counting the case, or 3.5 hours from the buds alone. A full charge takes about 50 minutes for the earbuds and about 80 minutes for the case, over USB-C. OnePlus lists wired USB-C charging only; wireless charging is not mentioned in its specifications.
Calls, Connectivity and Controls
Each earbud has three microphones: a feed-forward mic, a talk mic and a feed-back mic. OnePlus’s AI Clear Call algorithm uses them to filter out wind and background noise on calls.
The OnePlus Buds 4 use Bluetooth 5.4 and support Google Fast Pair and dual-device connection, so they can stay connected to a phone and a laptop together. Steady Connect, OnePlus’s extended-range mode, works with select OnePlus phones running OxygenOS 15.0.0 or later. Controls are on the stem: swipe up or down for volume, long-press to switch between noise cancelling and Transparency, double-tap for the next track and triple-tap for the previous track. Single tap to play or pause has to be switched on in settings or in the HeyMelody app.
Who This Is Not For
iPhone owners get the noise cancelling and dual drivers, but not LHDC Hi-Res audio, and features such as 3D Audio, Golden Sound and custom controls need the HeyMelody app. AI Translation and Steady Connect only work with select OnePlus phones.
The charging case is not water resistant; only the earbuds carry the IP55 rating, and OnePlus says liquid damage is not covered under its warranty. There is no wireless charging in OnePlus’s specifications. And if you plan to use ANC with LHDC all day, expect up to 5.5 hours per charge, not the headline 45 hours.
