Canon lists the PG-445 black and CL-446 colour as the standard cartridges on the specification pages of the PIXMA iP2840, MG2440, MG2540S, MG2940 and TS204. If your printer is one of these, this pack fits it.
The fastest way to be sure is to look at the cartridge you are replacing. The number is printed on its label: 445 on the black and 446 on the colour. If you see 545 and 546, or 440 and 441, your printer uses a different cartridge and this pack will not fit.
Our old title listed the MG2540. Canon’s specification page names the MG2540S, so we now use Canon’s model name. If you are unsure about your exact model, send us a photo of the printer label and we will check it for you.

Canon rates both cartridges at up to 180 pages each, measured on A4 colour documents. That figure comes from Canon’s standard test page, which has modest ink coverage, like a typical letter with a small logo.
Real use differs. Pages full of dark text, charts or pictures use more ink and give fewer pages. A school project with coloured backgrounds can use the colour cartridge several times faster than plain documents.
For photos, Canon rates the CL-446 colour cartridge at about 55 photos of 10 x 15 cm. For the black PG-445, Canon lists an estimated supplemental yield of 1,445 photos, because black is used only a little in photo printing.
Each cartridge holds 8 ml of ink, according to Canon’s UAE store.
Black and colour: how the two cartridges differ
The PG-445 is a pigment black ink, according to Canon. Pigment black gives sharp, dark text on plain paper, which is why it is used for documents.
The CL-446 is a single tri-colour cartridge holding cyan, magenta and yellow. When one of the three colours runs out, the whole colour cartridge needs replacing, even if the other two still have ink. That is the trade off of a tri-colour design compared with separate colour tanks.
Canon does not publish the ink type of the CL-446 on its UAE store page, so we do not state it.
Standard versus XL: which to buy
Canon also makes XL versions: the PG-445XL rated at 400 pages and the CL-446XL at 300 pages, according to the same Canon specification pages. The XL cartridges fit the same printers.
If you print a few pages a week, the standard Canon PG-445 CL-446 pack is the sensible choice. If you print school work or office documents daily, XL cartridges cost more each but last longer, and you change cartridges less often.
If you print hundreds of pages every month, a printer with refillable ink tanks is a better long-term choice than cartridges of any size.

Who it is not for: owners of printers that use a different cartridge number, such as 545/546 or 440/441. Heavy printers, who will get better value from the XL versions or an ink tank printer. And anyone printing professional photos, since the tri-colour CL-446 is designed for everyday prints, not photo studio work.
