The Bose QuietComfort Ultra Sandstone is the original 2023 QuietComfort Ultra over-ear headphone in a warm, sandy beige paired with soft gold-toned metal details. Next to the black version it looks lighter and more like a fashion accessory, and it suits people who wear their headphones all day at a desk or on the move and want them to match a neutral wardrobe. The hardware is the full first-generation Ultra: Bose noise cancelling, CustomTune calibration, Immersive Audio, Bluetooth 5.3 multipoint and up to 24 hours of battery with Immersive Audio off.

Why people choose Sandstone
Sandstone is a warm neutral, between cream and light brown, and it works with beige, white, camel and olive clothing. It is the most understated of the light finishes and looks good on camera during video calls. The care point is the same as any warm light shade: make-up, foundation and hair products can leave marks on the cushion edges and the inner headband. A soft damp cloth a few times a month keeps the Bose QuietComfort Ultra Sandstone looking new, and storing it in the carry case protects the finish in a bag.
Materials you notice every day
Bose builds the Bose QuietComfort Ultra Sandstone from plastic and aluminium, with protein leather on the cushions and headband. The aluminium arms give it a more premium feel than the standard QuietComfort, and the Bose QuietComfort Ultra Sandstone folds into the included carry case. Bose lists the weight at 0.56 lb, about 254 g, a little heavier than the regular QuietComfort but still comfortable for long sessions for most people. In a hot room protein leather does trap warmth, so short breaks help.
Sound shaped to your ears
CustomTune plays a short tone each time the Bose QuietComfort Ultra Sandstone powers on and measures how your ear responds, then adjusts the audio and noise cancelling to match. You do nothing; it takes seconds. On top of that, the Bose app offers an adjustable equaliser, and Bose Immersive Audio can place music in front of you with the Still setting at a desk or the Motion setting while walking. Immersive Audio works with any source, though many listeners keep it off for dense pop and electronic mixes.
A full working day and beyond
Bose rates the battery at up to 24 hours with Immersive Audio off and up to 18 hours with it on. A full charge takes up to 3 hours according to the specification table, and Bose says a 15-minute charge gives up to 3 hours of playback. Multipoint keeps a laptop and a phone connected at the same time over Bluetooth 5.3, with a range of up to 9 metres, so the Bose QuietComfort Ultra Sandstone moves from a meeting to a call without re-pairing.
The rest, in brief
On the Bose QuietComfort Ultra Sandstone, Quiet, Aware and Immersion are the three default modes, and custom modes can be added in the Bose app. Bose lists Snapdragon Sound support for compatible Android phones. The box includes the carry case, a 3.5 mm to 2.5 mm audio cable for wired listening and a 50.8 cm USB-A to USB-C cable; no wall adapter is included.
Who This Is Not For
The Bose QuietComfort Ultra Sandstone is not for anyone who wants the latest generation; Bose launched QuietComfort Ultra (2nd Gen) in 2025 and this is the original. The warm light finish shows make-up and skin oils, so it needs more care than Black. Bose does not publish a water or sweat rating, Immersive Audio cuts battery to 18 hours, Snapdragon Sound does not benefit iPhones, and no wall charger is included.
