A lavalier transmitter hides best when it matches the fabric behind it. The black Hollyland LARK M2 all but vanishes on navy and charcoal suits, black abayas, dark thobes for winter, black T-shirts and the dark shirts presenters often wear under studio lights. At evening events and night shoots, where most outfits are dark, it is the version that stays out of the viewer’s attention.
Black is also forgiving in daily use. Scuffs on the edge of the button and the small marks a magnet leaves are harder to see than on a light finish. What does show on black is pale dust and face powder, so a dry microfibre cloth in the kit bag keeps the mic looking clean between takes. If your talent mostly wears white or light colours, the white version of the same kit is the better match.
Three Receivers: Which One Goes Where
