Description

The JBL PartyBox 310 is a wheeled party speaker rated by JBL at 240W RMS on mains power, dropping to 140W when it runs on its own battery. It plays for up to 18 hours, takes two microphones or a guitar for karaoke, carries an IPX4 splashproof rating and rolls on built-in wheels with a telescopic handle. Why Choose the JBL PartyBox 310

The JBL PartyBox 310 is the model that made the wheeled party speaker a normal thing to own. It rolls like a cabin suitcase, it survives splashes, it runs a long evening on battery and it takes live inputs, so one box covers music, karaoke and lighting without a separate mixer, stand or amplifier.

That self-contained design is the reason it is still one of the most bought large party speakers in the UAE. For a villa garden, a rooftop, a beach gathering or a small hall, the JBL PartyBox 310 replaces a rented PA setup with a single item one person can move.

240W RMS on Mains, 140W on Battery

JBL’s published spec sheet for this model gives the output as 240W RMS. That is the figure for mains operation, and it is an RMS rating rather than a peak or music-power number. JBL’s own support documentation then breaks the same speaker down by power source: 240W on AC power, 140W on battery, and 140W from a 12 V car supply. JBL states those three figures without restating the measurement standard for the two lower ones, so treat 240W RMS as the mains rating and 140W as the battery rating.

What that means in practice is simple: plug the JBL PartyBox 310 into a socket when you want everything it has, and expect a real reduction in headroom when you run it off the battery in a garden or on a beach. The JBL PartyBox 310 drivers are two 6.5-inch (176 mm) woofers and two 2.5-inch (65 mm) tweeters, with frequency response quoted as 45 Hz to 20 kHz measured at -6 dB, so the low end is genuinely low for a portable but the -6 dB qualifier matters when you compare it against speakers quoted at -3 dB.

Up to 18 Hours of Battery, and What That Figure Covers

The built-in 72 Wh lithium-ion battery of the JBL PartyBox 310 is rated by JBL at up to 18 hours of playtime, and JBL adds that playtime varies by usage. It does not publish the volume level, the light-show setting or the test track behind that number, so 18 hours is a best case at low volume rather than a guarantee at party level with the lights running.

A full recharge takes under 3.5 hours according to JBL. When a socket is within reach, running the JBL PartyBox 310 on mains gives you both unlimited playtime and the full 240W rating at the same time, which is the way to use it for a long event.

Wheels, Telescopic Handle and IPX4

At 17.42 kg the JBL PartyBox 310 is not a speaker you carry far, which is why JBL fitted built-in smooth-glide wheels and a telescopic handle. One person moves it from a car boot to a garden without lifting it, in the same motion as wheeling luggage. The cabinet measures 325.6 x 687.7 x 367.8 mm.

The IPX4 rating covers splashing water from any direction. That is poolside spray and light rain, and it is deliberately not the same as the IP68 immersion rating on JBL’s sealed Boombox 4. The X in IPX4 also means JBL has not tested or rated this cabinet against dust ingress, so it is worth keeping the JBL PartyBox 310 off open sand.

Karaoke Inputs, USB Playback and the Light Show

There are dual inputs that accept microphones or a guitar, which is what turns the JBL PartyBox 310 into a karaoke rig without extra hardware. JBL includes vocal tuning for the mic channels. Microphones are not supplied in the box.

A built-in USB port plays music files directly from a drive formatted FAT16 or FAT32, in MP3, WMA or WAV. The USB output is rated 5 V / 2.1 A, so it will also charge a phone. There is one aux output for chaining to another system. The light show pulses and strobes in time with the music, and the JBL PartyBox app controls tracks, lighting and karaoke settings from your phone.

Bluetooth 5.1 and True Wireless Stereo

Wireless playback on the JBL PartyBox 310 is Bluetooth 5.1 with A2DP 1.3 and AVRCP 1.6 profiles, and JBL quotes a range of approximately 10 metres. True Wireless Stereo links two compatible party speakers over Bluetooth, and JBL is specific that TWS covers up to two party speakers rather than an unlimited chain.

This model predates JBL’s move to Auracast on newer portables, so it will not join an Auracast group with a Boombox 4 or a current PartyBox. If you plan to pair speakers, pair it with another TWS-compatible PartyBox.

Who This Is Not For

This is not a beach or desert speaker in the way a sealed portable is. IPX4 means splash resistance only, with no dust rating at all, so sand and the JBL PartyBox 310 are a bad combination. It is also not something you carry: 17.42 kg rolls beautifully on a smooth floor or a paved driveway, and very badly across grass, gravel or sand, where you will be lifting it.

It is not a full-power battery speaker either. The 240W rating belongs to mains operation, and unplugging drops it to 140W, so if your event has no power nearby you should plan around the lower figure rather than the headline one. And it is not a current-generation model for multi-room use, because it uses TWS rather than Auracast and cannot be grouped with JBL’s newer speakers.

FAQ

How many watts is the JBL PartyBox 310?

240W RMS on mains power, per JBL’s spec sheet. JBL’s support documentation lists 140W when the speaker runs on its internal battery and 140W from a 12 V car supply. The 240W figure is an RMS rating, not a peak rating.

Does the JBL PartyBox 310 play at full power on battery?

No. JBL lists 240W on AC power and 140W on battery, so unplugging it costs you real output. For a long event with no reduction in volume, run it from a socket.

How long does the JBL PartyBox 310 battery last?

18 hours is JBL’s maximum rating from the 72 Wh battery, and JBL adds that playtime varies by usage. The volume level and light-show setting used for that test are not published, so expect less at party volume with the lights on.

Is the JBL PartyBox 310 waterproof?

No. It is rated IPX4, which is splashproof only. It is not rated for immersion, and the X means JBL has not rated it against dust at all.

Does the JBL PartyBox 310 support karaoke?

Yes. The JBL PartyBox 310 has dual inputs that take microphones or a guitar, with vocal tuning on the mic channels. No microphone is included in the box.

Can I pair two of them together?

Yes. True Wireless Stereo links up to two compatible party speakers over Bluetooth. This model uses TWS rather than Auracast, so it will not group with JBL’s newer Auracast speakers.
