Majogami Switch is the original Nintendo Switch cartridge release of 魔女ガミ-The Witch of Luludidea-, a hand-drawn paper-craft action game written, drawn and published by INTI CREATES. Our copy is the Japanese package edition rated CERO B, launched in Japan on 30 October 2025. It is the portable choice in the family: it plays in TV, tabletop and handheld modes on a first Switch, and Nintendo’s compatibility list confirms it also runs on a Switch 2.

The Story Behind Majogami Switch
Shiroha wakes up remembering nothing. Beside her floats Shiori, her father, who now exists only as a scrap of paper. Together they walk a strange land of folded paper where the Craft Witches, cruel deities known as the Majogami, hold power. Each Majogami carries a memory card called a Recarte, and every one Shiroha defeats returns a piece of the life she shared with her father.
This makes Majogami Switch a family story as much as a sword game. Optional conversations show small everyday moments between father and daughter, and bonding scenes with companions reveal their own histories. The adventure is fully voiced in Japanese, with Miyu Tomita as Shiroha, Kenji Hamada as Shiori and veteran Masako Nozawa narrating.

A Paper-Craft World Drawn by Yuji Natsume
Art director Yuji Natsume, known for Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon and Blaster Master Zero, gives the game its look: bright cut-paper shapes set against dark, unsettling backgrounds. Enemies are spirits and gods built from paper, and the sword fittingly slices them apart like sheets.
Shiroha’s main tool is Setsuna, a dive that carries her through an enemy in one press and that can also be used to dodge and to reach high platforms. Enemies behind curse mist must be cut along a matching line, and talisman-wrapped ones fall to fast chains of hits. Short, sharp sessions suit this design, which is exactly why Majogami Switch feels at home on a portable screen.
Handheld, Tabletop or TV: Majogami Switch Anywhere
Nintendo’s product listing names three play modes for Majogami Switch: TV mode, tabletop mode and handheld mode. Dock it for a session on the living room television, prop it on a desk with detached Joy-Con, or play in bed or on a long drive. The Japanese package is the standard Switch game card case.
For a game built from bite-sized stages and boss fights, the handheld option matters. You can clear a stage, visit the merchant Uyuha to buy charms or scrolls with Konoha currency, and put the console to sleep until your next break.

Does Majogami Switch Run on Switch 2?
Yes, according to Nintendo’s own compatibility information for this title, which states that the game is playable on Switch 2 and that its behavior is consistent with the original Switch. In other words, you get the same game, not an enhanced one.
Important details from that same listing: a separate Switch 2 version exists and is sold separately, there is no Switch 2 Edition upgrade pack for the Majogami Switch cartridge, and save data and additional content do not carry over between the two versions. If you want the 4K and 120FPS presentation Nintendo advertises for the native version, buy the Switch 2 package instead.
What You Get to Do
According to the official Steam listing written by the publisher, the adventure spans more than 35 action stages, 13 boss fights and seven fighting forms. The Astrals, guardian star gods who join Shiroha, power her transformations, and Decisive Battles against bosses escalate halfway with a Ruinous Inferno attack you can flee or face.
Side content includes trials with special rules and worldwide score rankings. The publisher says 12 new advanced trials, first shipped with the PS5 version, would also come to existing versions as a free update, so Majogami Switch is not left behind. Downloading that update needs an internet connection.

Who This Is Not For
Not for groups: Majogami Switch is a 1-player game with no local co-op. The CERO B rating means it is aimed at players aged 12 and up in Japan. Spoken dialogue is Japanese only, and the box and inserts of this edition are printed in Japanese.
On language, be careful. Nintendo’s store lists English among the supported languages for the game, but the publisher’s product page does not state the language list for the Japanese package, so the publisher does not confirm English support on this Japanese edition. Also, if you already own a Switch 2 and want sharper visuals, this cartridge will not upgrade, so the dedicated Switch 2 version is a better match.
