The JBL Quantum 650 is JBL’s wireless gaming headset for people who play on more than one screen. It connects to a PC, PlayStation or Nintendo Switch through a low-latency 2.4GHz USB dongle, holds a Bluetooth 5.3 link to your phone at the same time, and runs for up to 45 hours on the 2.4GHz connection before it needs a charge. This is the White version: a white headband and earcups with purple trim on the cups and the headband straps, plus small orange accents on the hinges and the dongle.

Two wireless links on the JBL Quantum 650
Most gaming headsets make you choose between the console dongle and your phone. JBL calls its approach Dual Wireless Connection: the JBL Quantum 650 connects through the 2.4GHz dongle and Bluetooth 5.3 simultaneously. In practice that means game audio from the PC or PlayStation comes in over the dongle while a voice call or music from your phone arrives over Bluetooth, without unpairing anything.
When you want the lowest possible delay, there is a third route. Plug the included USB-C cable in and the headset works as a wired USB audio device; JBL quotes latency under 30ms in this mode. The cable is also how you charge it, and JBL rates a full charge at under three hours.
Battery life, and what replaceable means here
JBL rates the JBL Quantum 650 at up to 45 hours of music playback and 30 hours of talk time when you use the 2.4GHz dongle only. On Bluetooth alone the figures rise to up to 60 hours of music and 39 hours of talk. Those are JBL’s maximums; louder volume and constant mic use bring them down.
The battery is a 700mAh lithium-ion pack that sits behind a removable cover on the earcup, and you can swap it in seconds. One battery comes in the box, fitted to the headset. JBL sells the spare separately, so if you want to keep playing while one pack charges, budget for a second battery.
Sound and the cardioid boom mic
Inside each earcup is a 50mm dynamic driver that JBL builds with a carbon damping material for lower distortion. The quoted frequency response is 20Hz to 40kHz (passive), with 32 ohm impedance, 88.6dB SPL sensitivity at 1kHz/1mW and a maximum SPL of 95dB. JBL Quantum Spatial Sound adds positional audio, and the JBL QuantumENGINE app lets you set your sound profile, watch a real-time sound visualiser, reduce keyboard noise and update the firmware.
The microphone is a 6mm unidirectional capsule with a cardioid pattern, so it favours your voice and rejects sound from the sides. Its range is 100Hz to 8kHz, and noise reduction through QuantumENGINE helps keep key clicks out of your team chat. The mic detaches when you only want to listen, and a windshield foam is included. The headset also carries Zoom certification, which makes it a sensible choice for work calls.
Why choose the white JBL Quantum 650
The white version suits a light-coloured desk, a white PS5 or a setup built around a white keyboard and mouse. The purple trim on the earcups and the headband straps gives it more character than a plain white headset, and the orange details on the hinges, the USB-C cable and the dongle tie the look together.
White does show marks faster than black. Wipe the headband and the outer cups with a dry or slightly damp microfibre cloth, and keep hair products and makeup away from the fabric cushions. JBL makes the fabric ear cushions, the mesh hammock under the headband, the cable and the mic replaceable, so a worn cushion does not mean replacing the whole headset.
Comfort and compatibility
The JBL Quantum 650 weighs 331.5g. A light mesh hammock under the soft headband spreads that weight across your head, and the earcups use fabric cushions that stay cooler than leatherette in long sessions.
JBL lists compatibility with Windows, Mac, iPhone, iPad, Android, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch. The packaging is FSC-certified paper printed with soy ink, and JBL says part of the plastic is recycled.
Who This Is Not For
Xbox players should look elsewhere: Xbox is not in JBL’s compatibility list for this model, and JBL sells a separate Quantum 650X for that console. If you want active noise cancelling for the bus or a flight, this headset does not offer it; the noise reduction works on the microphone, not on what you hear.
If you expected two batteries for hot-swapping out of the box, note that the spare is sold separately. And at 331.5g it is not the lightest headset for very long sessions, especially for smaller heads.
