Once connected, it behaves as part of the same strip, showing one colour at a time along its length, and it is controlled together with the base from the Philips Hue app.
Philips’ product page states that the extension needs to be connected to a Philips Hue Bridge and lists ‘a Philips Lightstrip Plus and a Philips Hue bridge’ as requirements, even though the highlights also mention control with Bluetooth or the Bridge. To be safe, plan your setup with a Hue Bridge. Who This Is Not For

It is not compatible with non-Hue LED strips or with other Hue strips such as Gradient lightstrips, since Philips states it works only with the Lightstrip Plus.
