The Dreame Pocket Grey is a folding high-speed hair dryer, model AHD51, in the colour Dreame calls Space Gray. Dreame lists it at 300 g with a 110,000 rpm motor, a 1300 W rating and a 220–240 V, 50/60 Hz supply, so it runs on UAE sockets without a converter. It folds to fit a handbag or carry-on, and the box includes a curling nozzle, an anti-frizz nozzle and a travel bag. It is the travel-minded alternative to a full-size dryer for people who still want fast drying and controlled heat away from home.

Table of Contents
Three folding shapes
The Dreame Pocket Grey is designed to fold, and Dreame describes three positions. The N shape is for compact storage, the 1 shape is for styling with the curling nozzle to form ringlets, and the 7 shape is for straightening with the anti-frizz nozzle, like a conventional dryer. Dreame’s specification table gives the dimensions as 5 × 14.5 × 20.1 cm without saying whether that is folded, and the product page mentions a 50 mm body. Either way, it takes far less room in a suitcase than a full-size dryer, and the included travel bag keeps the dryer and both nozzles together.

Motor and airflow
Inside the Dreame Pocket Grey is a high-speed motor rated at 110,000 rpm. Dreame publishes more than one airflow figure: the specification table lists 70 m/s, while the feature section quotes 60 m/s, so expect somewhere in that range rather than a single guaranteed number. Dreame also claims short hair can be dried in about 40 seconds and marks that claim with an asterisk without publishing its test conditions; long or thick hair will take longer. There are two speeds, high and low, so you can dry quickly and then switch to a gentler flow for finishing.

Heat control and five modes
In the Dreame Pocket Grey, Dreame uses an NTC thermistor and a microprocessor to keep the hot-air mode below 57 °C, and says the temperature is checked 300 times per second. Lower heat is gentler on hair, which matters if you dry it every day. There are five temperature modes: cold air, warm air, hot air, a hot and cold cycle, and instant cold air to set a style. The page also lists overheating protection. The 1.5 m cable gives reasonable reach in most hotel rooms and bathrooms.

Ions, noise and the two nozzles
Air ionisation is built into the Dreame Pocket Grey. Dreame’s copy states 300 million negative ions with an asterisk, and its specification table writes the unit differently, so take the number as Dreame’s marketing figure. Noise is given as under 60 dB, also with an asterisk and no published test conditions. The curling nozzle helps form waves and lift at the ends when the dryer is in the 1 shape, and the anti-frizz nozzle smooths the surface of the hair in the 7 shape. A user manual and safety instructions complete the box.

Why the grey version
Space Gray is the understated option of the Dreame Pocket. It looks at home in a gym bag, a business-trip carry-on or a shared bathroom, and a mid-grey finish hides scuffs from travel better than a light or metallic colour. If you share the dryer with others in the family, grey is the neutral choice. The other colour Dreame lists for this model is Titanium Gold; the specifications are the same.

Who This Is Not For
The Dreame Pocket Grey trades some power for size: 1300 W is lower than many full-size dryers, so very long, thick hair will take longer to dry. It is corded, not battery powered, and needs a socket. No diffuser is included, so it is not ideal for people who diffuse curly hair. If you only dry your hair at home and never travel with a dryer, a full-size model may serve you better. Dreame does not publish the test conditions behind its drying-time and noise claims.
