The ASUS TUF Gaming A14 FA401KM is a 14-inch gaming laptop that weighs 1.46kg, about the same as many everyday work laptops. Inside sits an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 Laptop GPU with 8GB of GDDR7 running at up to 105W, an AMD Ryzen AI 7 350 with 8 cores and a 50 TOPS NPU, 16GB of LPDDR5X-7500 and a 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD. The screen is a 2.5K (2560 x 1600) 165Hz IPS-level panel with G-Sync. This is the FA401KM-DS74 configuration sold in the US market, with Windows 11 Home.
Table of Contents
RTX 5060 at up to 105W
ASUS lists the RTX 5060 Laptop GPU in the ASUS TUF Gaming A14 FA401KM at 1737MHz at 105W, made up of 90W plus 15W of Dynamic Boost, including a 50MHz factory overclock. That is a high power limit for a 14-inch chassis, and it matters because laptop GPUs with the same name can perform very differently depending on how much power the maker allows. A MUX Switch with NVIDIA Advanced Optimus lets the GPU drive the screen directly in games and hand over to the integrated graphics for battery work. DLSS 4 and the 8GB of GDDR7 suit 1600p gaming with sensible settings in demanding titles.
Ryzen AI 7 350 and memory
The AMD Ryzen AI 7 350 in the ASUS TUF Gaming A14 FA401KM runs 8 cores and 16 threads at 2.0GHz base and up to 5.0GHz, with 24MB of cache and an XDNA NPU rated at up to 50 TOPS for on-device AI features in Windows 11. Memory is 16GB of LPDDR5X-7500 in dual channel, made of two 8GB packages soldered on the board, and ASUS lists 16GB as the maximum for this configuration, so it cannot be upgraded later. Storage is easier to grow: the 1TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD sits in one of two M.2 PCIe slots, and ASUS notes that only single-sided SSDs are supported.
A 2.5K 165Hz screen
The 14-inch panel of the ASUS TUF Gaming A14 FA401KM has a 2560 x 1600 resolution in a 16:10 shape, which gives more vertical space than a 16:9 screen for documents, timelines and web pages. It refreshes at 165Hz with G-Sync, has an anti-glare finish and covers 100% of sRGB according to ASUS, which suits photo work for the web as well as gaming. ASUS does not publish the brightness in nits for this panel, so we do not quote a figure. For a bigger picture at home, HDMI 2.1 and both USB-C ports can drive an external display.
Ports, connectivity and camera
On the ASUS TUF Gaming A14 FA401KM, ASUS lists one HDMI 2.1 FRL, two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports at up to 10Gbps, one USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C with DisplayPort and G-Sync, one USB4 Type-C at up to 40Gbps with DisplayPort and power delivery, a UHS-II microSD reader and a 3.5mm combo audio jack. Wireless is Wi-Fi 6E with 2×2 antennas and Bluetooth 5.2. There is a 1080p IR camera for Windows Hello face sign-in, an array microphone with AI noise cancelling, and two speakers with Dolby Atmos. The backlit chiclet keyboard has single-colour lighting and a Copilot key.
Battery, charger and portability
The ASUS TUF Gaming A14 FA401KM carries a 73Wh four-cell battery. ASUS lists a 200W adapter for this configuration, and the USB4 port supports power delivery, though ASUS says included accessories vary by country. The body measures 31.1 x 22.7 cm and 1.69 to 1.99 cm thick, and with a weight of 1.46kg the ASUS TUF Gaming A14 FA401KM slides into a standard backpack sleeve. That makes it a sensible choice for a student or a commuter who wants one machine for lectures and work in the day and games at night.
Who This Is Not For
The 16GB of memory is soldered and cannot be upgraded, so anyone planning heavy 3D work or large video projects should look at a model with more RAM. There is no Ethernet port, so wired internet needs a USB adapter. This is the US-market configuration, so the keyboard uses the US English layout without Arabic letters. A 14-inch body also runs warmer and louder under long gaming sessions than a larger 16-inch laptop, and ASUS does not list MIL-STD-810 testing for this specific model.
