The ROG Cetra Open Wireless is ASUS’s open-ear gaming earbud: soft hooks hold each earbud outside the ear canal, so you keep hearing the room while you play. It connects through a ROG SpeedNova 2.4 GHz USB-C dongle or Bluetooth 6.0, uses 14.2 mm diamond-like carbon drivers and four microphones with AI noise cancelling, and ASUS rates it at up to 16 hours per charge under specific conditions.

ROG Cetra Open Wireless: open-ear earbuds built for gaming
Most gaming earbuds seal the ear. The ROG Cetra Open Wireless does the opposite: the speaker sits just outside the ear canal on a soft ear hook, so you can hear a doorbell, a family member or a teammate in the same room without pausing the game. Nothing presses into your ear, which also makes long sessions more comfortable for people who dislike silicone tips.
ASUS includes a detachable reflective neck strap, which keeps the earbuds tethered during runs or when you pull them off between matches. The finish is black, with Aura RGB lighting on the earbuds.
Two connections: SpeedNova 2.4 GHz and Bluetooth 6.0
For gaming, the ROG Cetra Open Wireless connects through the included ROG SpeedNova 2.4 GHz USB-C dongle, which ASUS describes as ultra-low latency; ASUS does not publish a latency figure in milliseconds. The dongle supports one-way passthrough charging, so a phone or handheld with a single USB-C port can charge while the dongle stays plugged in.
Bluetooth 6.0 handles phones, tablets and laptops. ASUS lists compatibility with PC, Mac, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, iOS, Android and other Bluetooth devices. Xbox is not on that list.
Sound: 14.2 mm drivers, Phantom Bass and Immersion Mode
Each earbud uses a 14.2 mm diaphragm driver with a diamond-like carbon (DLC) coating, with a frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz and 16-ohm impedance. Open designs naturally lose low end, so ASUS adds Phantom Bass, which uses perceptual audio processing to restore the sense of bass.
Immersion Mode is a dynamic filter that attenuates low-frequency background noise such as rumble and fan hum. It is not active noise cancellation, and it will not isolate you from a loud room.
Quad-mic AI noise cancelling on the ROG Cetra Open Wireless
Four built-in microphones work with AI noise cancellation to suppress chatter, traffic, gym noise and game audio around you while keeping your voice natural. The microphones are omnidirectional with -38 dB sensitivity and a 100 Hz to 8 kHz response, tuned for voice chat and calls.
Battery life of the ROG Cetra Open Wireless, with ASUS’s conditions
ASUS rates the earbuds at up to 16 hours per charge in Bluetooth mode, measured with the microphone muted and RGB lighting and audio modes switched off. The charging case adds 48 hours, for up to 64 hours in total, and a 15-minute charge gives about 3 hours.
ASUS does not publish a separate figure for the 2.4 GHz connection or for use with RGB and microphone on, so expect less than 16 hours in a typical gaming session with lighting on.
RGB, fit, water resistance and software
Aura RGB lighting offers 16.8 million colours and four preset effects. The earbuds are rated IPX5 for sweat and splashes, which covers workouts and light rain but not swimming. ASUS lists the weight as 11 g / 116 g for the earbuds and case.
Settings and updates run through ASUS Gear Link on PC and Gear Link Mobile on phones.
Who This Is Not For
Open-ear earbuds leak sound: at higher volume people next to you hear your game or music, so they are a poor fit for a shared bedroom at night or a quiet office. Bass and isolation are weaker than sealed in-ear earbuds, and in a loud LAN venue or metro carriage the game will be hard to hear.
Xbox players should look elsewhere, since Xbox is not on ASUS’s compatibility list. Competitive players who want a published latency figure will not find one, and anyone who needs the full 16 hours must game with RGB off and the mic muted, which is rarely realistic.
