The Mi Smart Standing Fan 2 is the efficiency pick of Xiaomi’s standing fans. A brushless DC motor rated at just 15W drives two layers of blades, seven outer and five inner, to move up to 20 m³/min of air while sipping as little as 1.4W at the slowest setting. Add 140° oscillation, 100 app-controlled speed levels and a measured minimum of 30.2 dB(A), and you get a fan that can run in a UAE living room from April to October without a noticeable bump in the electricity bill.

What the DC Motor Changes
Classic household fans spin an AC motor at a few preset speeds. The Mi Smart Standing Fan 2 uses a DC inverter motor wound with copper wire, which Xiaomi says runs more efficiently and lasts longer than an aluminium-wire motor, and holds a steady speed for even airflow. The numbers back it up. Tested by the China Household Electric Appliance Research Institute, the Mi Smart Standing Fan 2 drew 1.4W in direct-blow mode at level 1 without oscillation, and 13.8W at level 4.
Xiaomi turns that into a simple example: 8 hours a day for 90 days at level 1 uses about 1.008 kWh, roughly one unit of electricity for an entire summer. Even at level 4, the same 90 days come to about 9.9 kWh. The rated power of the Mi Smart Standing Fan 2 is 15W, and Xiaomi states it saves more than 60% energy compared with its 38W Lite sibling.

Dual Blades and the Mi Smart Standing Fan 2 Natural Breeze
Look through the front guard and you will see two sets of wing-shaped blades: seven in front and five behind, turning together. The rear set boosts total airflow while the front set softens it, so the air feels wider and more three-dimensional rather than a narrow jet aimed at your face. Measured in direct-blow mode at level 4, the maximum airflow of the Mi Smart Standing Fan 2 reaches 20 m³/min.
The Mi Smart Standing Fan 2 offers two airflow styles. Direct blow keeps a constant stream, useful after coming in from the summer heat. Natural breeze runs an algorithm that varies the speed to imitate wind outdoors, which many people find more comfortable for long evenings or sleep. You can switch between them on the fan or in the Mi Home app.
140° Coverage and 14m Reach
Wide rooms are where this model earns its place. The head rotates up to 140° horizontally, and in the app you can choose 30°, 60°, 90°, 120° or 140°, so the Mi Smart Standing Fan 2 can sweep a whole sofa area or focus on one chair. Tilt covers 39° in total, 23° up and 16° down, adjusted by hand with a damped joint for smoother movement.
Reach is rated at 14 metres: Xingyue Research Laboratory measured 0.38 m/s of air movement at that distance at level 4. That covers most open-plan living and dining areas in UAE apartments and villas. Pairing the Mi Smart Standing Fan 2 with your air conditioner helps push cool air into corners the AC vents do not reach.

Height adjusts with one button that releases the extension pole. With the pole fitted, the Mi Smart Standing Fan 2 stands 1000mm tall on the floor; without it, it sits on a table. Xiaomi’s durability testing covered 5,000 horizontal rotations, 1,000 tilt adjustments and 10,000 presses on each button.
Fine Control: 100 Levels, Timer and Voice
On the fan body you get four speed levels. In the Mi Home app the Mi Smart Standing Fan 2 opens up 100 speed levels in direct-blow mode, mapped so that body levels 1, 2, 3 and 4 equal app levels 1, 35, 70 and 100. The app also lets you preset power on and off across a 7 × 24-hour schedule, set smart scenes, and turn the indicator light and beeps off for a dark, silent bedroom.
Voice control works through Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa, provided you link the Mi Smart Standing Fan 2 to a compatible smart speaker bought separately. A child lock blocks the physical buttons, and the front cover comes off for washing. Minimum running noise is 30.2 dB(A) in natural-breeze mode at level 1 without rotation; at level 4 in direct-blow mode the airflow noise peaks at 55.8 dB(A).

Who This Is Not For
On the Mi Smart Standing Fan 2, the 100-level fine adjustment lives only in the app and only in direct-blow mode; on the body you have four steps. There is no remote control in the package, so without a phone or smart speaker you walk to the fan to change it. Tilt is manual. Assembly takes six steps with the supplied special wrench, which is easy but not instant. At 3kg it is portable, yet it has no battery or USB power option, so it stays near a socket.
The Mi Smart Standing Fan 2 also costs more than a basic AC fan; if you only need a fan for a few weeks a year, the energy savings take longer to pay back. The spec sheet lists a rated voltage of 100–240V at 50/60 Hz, so UAE power is fine, but this EU version comes with a European two-pin plug and needs a plug adapter for UK-style sockets.

FAQ
Can I plug the EU version straight into a UAE socket?
No, not into a UK-style three-pin socket without help. The voltage is fine because the rated input is 100–240V at 50/60 Hz, but the European two-pin plug needs a simple plug adapter.
How much does it cost to run for a summer?
1.008 kWh is Xiaomi’s figure for 8 hours a day over 90 days at level 1 in direct-blow mode. At level 4 the same period uses about 9.9 kWh.
Is this the Pro or the Lite model?
No, it is neither. This is the standard model, BPLDS02DM, with a 15W DC motor and dual blades. The Lite uses a 38W AC motor and a single set of seven blades.
Does it include a remote control?
No. You control the Mi Smart Standing Fan 2 from the buttons on the fan, the Mi Home app or a compatible voice assistant.
How wide does it oscillate?
140° is the maximum horizontal sweep of the Mi Smart Standing Fan 2, with 30°, 60°, 90° and 120° also selectable in the app. Tilt is 23° up and 16° down by hand.
Can I use all 100 speed levels in natural-breeze mode?
No. The 100 app levels apply to direct-blow mode only. Natural breeze varies the speed automatically.
