The Steam Deck OLED 1TB is the top model of Valve’s handheld gaming PC. It has the same 7.4-inch HDR OLED screen, 6 nm AMD APU, 16GB of LPDDR5 memory and 50Wh battery as the 512GB model, and adds the things Valve keeps for this version: a 1TB NVMe SSD, premium anti-glare etched glass, a carrying case with a removable liner, and an exclusive startup movie and virtual keyboard theme. Valve raised the US price to $949 in May 2026.

What the 1TB model adds over the 512GB
Valve’s own comparison lists five differences, and none of them touch performance. The Steam Deck OLED 1TB has double the internal storage, premium anti-glare etched glass instead of the standard glossy screen cover, a carrying case whose inner liner lifts out so you can carry the Deck in a slimmer sleeve, and an exclusive startup movie and keyboard theme. The APU, memory, display panel, battery, Wi-Fi 6E and 45W charger are identical, so games run exactly the same on both.

Why the extra terabyte matters
A handheld is most useful when your library is already on it. Large modern games can take 100 GB or more each, so 512GB fills quickly once the system and a few big titles are installed. The Steam Deck OLED 1TB keeps more of those games on the internal NVMe SSD, which loads faster than a UHS-I microSD card. You can still add a microSD card for older or smaller games and keep the heaviest titles on internal storage.
Anti-glare glass for bright rooms and travel
OLED panels look their best in the dark, and reflections are the usual problem in daylight or under office lights. Valve fits the Steam Deck OLED 1TB with etched anti-glare glass, which diffuses reflections from windows, car interiors and airport lighting. Combined with the panel’s 1,000-nit HDR peak and 600 nits in SDR, it is the model to choose if you play on the move or near a sunny window.

The rest, in brief
7.4-inch 1280 x 800 HDR OLED at up to 90Hz, 6 nm AMD APU with Zen 2 CPU and RDNA 2 GPU, 16GB LPDDR5 at 6400 MT/s, 50Wh battery rated at 3 to 12 hours depending on the game, tri-band Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3, USB-C with DisplayPort output, and SteamOS 3.
Who This Is Not For
SteamOS runs your Steam library; games that only exist on Windows stores such as the Xbox app, or that use anti-cheat systems not supported on SteamOS, will not run as they do on a Windows PC. The screen resolution is 1280 x 800, so text is less sharp than on a 1080p handheld.
At about 640 grams it is heavy for long sessions held in the air. Valve does not sell the Steam Deck officially in the UAE, so units are imported and the charger plug may need a UK-type adapter. And if you already use a large microSD card, the 512GB model covers the same games for less.
