The Shokz OpenFit 2+ Black are ear-hook open earbuds that rest in front of the ear canal instead of sealing it. They are built on the same DualBoost dual-driver design as the Shokz OpenFit 2, with the two additions Shokz itself names: Dolby Audio and Qi wireless charging for the case. Shokz rates them at up to 11 hours per charge and up to 48 hours with the case, at 50% volume with default settings, and the earbuds carry an IP55 rating. Below is what the plus model changes, what it shares, and where an open design gives ground.

Shokz OpenFit 2+ vs OpenFit 2: the two real differences
Shokz describes the Shokz OpenFit 2+ as the OpenFit 2 with two upgrades. The first is Dolby Audio, which Shokz says creates a richer, more expansive soundstage. The second is wireless charging: the case works on any Qi pad, where the standard model charges by USB-C cable only.
Everything else is shared, according to Shokz’s own comparison: DualBoost drivers, 11 hours per charge and 48 hours with the case, IP55 earbuds, four noise-cancelling microphones and Bluetooth 5.4. If you always charge from a cable and do not care for Dolby, our Shokz OpenFit 2 Black page covers the same core hardware. If you want open-ear noise reduction, that is a different model again: see the Shokz OpenFit Pro Black.
One cost to know: Shokz states that enabling Dolby Audio reduces the earbuds’ battery life by approximately 2 hours.
DualBoost drivers, OpenBass 2.0 and Dolby Audio
Each Shokz OpenFit 2+ earbud pairs an independent high-frequency unit with a larger low-frequency driver, which Shokz calls DualBoost. The OpenBass 2.0 algorithm pushes bass toward the ear, and DirectPitch 2.0 aims the sound so less of it spreads outwards. Shokz’s regional pages describe the low-frequency driver differently (17.3 mm on Shokz Asia, 11 × 21 mm on the series page), so we do not treat either size as definitive.
Dolby Audio is switched on and off in the Shokz App, which also holds the EQ modes, button customisation and a find-my-earbuds feature. Shokz does not publish frequency response or supported codecs for the Shokz OpenFit 2+.
The ear hook, the fit and the black finish
The hook follows a curve Shokz says is inspired by the golden spiral, covered in its Ultra-Soft Silicone 2.0, and it bends to hold behind the ear during runs, gym sessions and commuting. The Shokz OpenFit 2+ comes in one universal size. Each earbud weighs 9.4 g ± 0.2 g and the case 56 g ± 2 g.
Black is the colour that draws the least attention on the ear: against dark hair or with sunglasses the hook almost disappears, and it hides sweat marks and dust better than paler shades. Shokz also sells the Shokz OpenFit 2+ in Grey and Purple, plus a HYROX co-branded edition.
Battery, quick charge and Qi wireless charging
Shokz rates the Shokz OpenFit 2+ earbuds at up to 11 hours per charge and up to 48 hours in total with the case, measured at 50% volume with all other features at default. With Dolby Audio on, expect about 2 hours less per charge. A 10-minute quick charge gives 2 hours of listening.
The case recharges the earbuds in about 60 minutes, and an empty case takes about 100 minutes on a USB-C cable. Placed on a Qi pad, Shokz Asia quotes under 3 hours for a full wireless charge. The case itself is not water-resistant, so keep it dry even though the earbuds are rated IP55.
Controls, calls and connection
Shokz lists both physical multifunction buttons and touch controls on the Shokz OpenFit 2+, and the button actions can be customised in the app. Buttons are easier to use with sweaty fingers or gloves than touch panels alone.
For calls, the Shokz OpenFit 2+ carries four beamforming microphones (two per earbud) with noise-cancelling processing. Bluetooth 5.4 and MultiPoint keep a phone and a laptop connected at the same time, so a call on one does not mean re-pairing the other.
Sound leakage and awareness: the honest trade-off
Because the ear canal stays open, you hear traffic, gym announcements and colleagues, which is the reason to choose the Shokz OpenFit 2+. The flip side is that some sound escapes. DirectPitch 2.0 reduces it, but at high volume in a quiet lift or office, the person beside you may hear your music.
There is no seal, so there is no passive isolation and no active noise cancellation. On a flight, in a loud mall or on a busy metro you will turn the volume up rather than block the noise out, and deep sub-bass will not hit as hard as it does in sealed in-ear earbuds.
Who This Is Not For
Frequent flyers and commuters who want quiet: there is no ANC and no isolation. People who listen loudly in shared quiet spaces, because an open design leaks sound. Bass-first listeners who want the pressure of a sealed in-ear fit.
Anyone choosing earbuds for LDAC or hi-res playback, since Shokz does not publish codec support. Swimmers: IP55 covers sweat and rain, not submersion, and the case has no rating. Glasses wearers may find the hook shares space with their arms; it is worth trying both together.

FAQ
What is the difference between the Shokz OpenFit 2+ and OpenFit 2?
Two things, per Shokz: the OpenFit 2+ adds Dolby Audio and Qi wireless charging for the case. Drivers, battery, IP55 and microphones are the same.
Do the Shokz OpenFit 2+ have noise cancelling?
No. There is no ANC and no isolation because the ear stays open. The noise-cancelling processing works on the microphones during calls.
How long does the battery last?
Up to 11 hours per charge and 48 hours with the case at 50% volume, per Shokz. Dolby Audio cuts about 2 hours per charge.
Does the case charge wirelessly?
Yes. It supports Qi pads, and Shokz Asia quotes under 3 hours for a full wireless charge.
Can I use them in the rain or at the gym?
Yes. The earbuds are IP55 for sweat and rain. Keep the case dry, as it is not water-resistant, and do not swim with them.
Do they leak sound?
Yes, somewhat. DirectPitch 2.0 reduces leakage, but at high volume in a quiet room people nearby may hear your audio.
Can they connect to a phone and laptop at once?
Yes. MultiPoint connects two devices at the same time.
