The Shokz OpenDots ONE Red is the boldest colour of the first clip-on earbud Shokz made. Instead of sitting inside the ear canal, each bud hooks around the edge of the ear on a flexible nickel-titanium JointArc and rests the speaker just in front of the canal, so your ears stay open to traffic, coaches and conversation. Inside, Shokz Bassphere joins two circular drivers into one speaker unit for fuller bass, and Dolby Audio can be switched on in the app. Shokz rates the battery at up to 10 hours of music per charge and 40 hours with the case, the case charges on a Qi pad, and the earbuds are IP54. In red, they are a deliberate statement: you notice them, and so does everyone else.

Why choose red
A clip-on earbud sits on the outside of the ear where it is clearly visible, so the colour becomes part of your outfit. The Shokz OpenDots ONE Red suits people who like their gear to be seen: a runner in bright kit, a cyclist who wants to stand out, or anyone who matches red trainers, a red watch strap or a red phone case. Against dark hair the Shokz OpenDots ONE Red reads as a sharp accent, and it is easy to spot in a gym bag or on a café table, which helps with small earbuds that are otherwise easy to misplace. If you prefer the earbuds to disappear at work, black or grey is the quieter choice; red is for when you want them to be part of the look.

Active days and sweat
The JointArc grips the outer ear without pressing into the canal, and Shokz offers one universal size. That makes the Shokz OpenDots ONE Red a practical pick for walking, gym sessions and steady runs, where in-ear tips can work loose with sweat. The IP54 rating covers sweat and light rain on the earbuds. It is not a swimming rating, and after a hard session it is worth wiping the buds dry before they go back into the case. Because nothing seals the ear, you also keep hearing traffic, bike bells and gym instructions, which is the main reason many people move to open-ear designs for outdoor training.

Bassphere and Dolby Audio
Open designs normally lose bass because there is no seal. The Shokz OpenDots ONE Red addresses this with Bassphere, which integrates two circular drivers into a unified speaker. Dolby Audio is off by default and is turned on in the Shokz app, where you also get 4 preset EQ modes and 2 custom profiles. DirectPitch steers the sound towards the ear to keep leakage low at moderate volume. Shokz does not publish the driver size, frequency response or Bluetooth version for OpenDots ONE, so we do not quote them.

Battery, quick charge and wireless charging
For the Shokz OpenDots ONE Red, Shokz lists up to 10 hours of music or 6.3 hours of calls per charge, and 40 hours of music or 25 hours of calls with the case; at maximum volume expect about 7 hours of music. A 10-minute charge gives roughly 2 hours of listening. The earbuds refill in about 1 hour, while the case takes about 2 hours over USB-C or 4 hours on a Qi-certified wireless pad. A USB-C cable is included.
Controls, calls and either-ear fit
Thanks to Shokz Dynamic Ear Detection, the left and right buds are interchangeable: pick up either one and clip it on. Controls on the Shokz OpenDots ONE Red are taps on the battery compartment or the JointArc plus a two-finger pinch, and track skipping can be assigned to a triple tap or long press in the app. The Shokz OpenDots ONE Red connects to two devices at once through multipoint and works with a single earbud. For calls, Shokz uses optimised microphones with AI noise reduction; it does not publish the number of microphones.
Who This Is Not For
The Shokz OpenDots ONE Red is not for anyone who needs active noise cancellation: it has none, and being open-ear it lets outside sound in by design, so it will not quieten a flight or a loud metro. IP54 is lower than the IP55 of OpenDots Air or the IP57 of OpenDots 2, so it is not for swimming or heavy rain. Bass is strong for an open earbud but will not match a sealed in-ear model, and at high volume people nearby may hear some sound. If you want earbuds that stay discreet in formal settings, the red is very visible; consider the black or grey.
