Singapore version: what you should know
This is the Singapore-market unit of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra 1TB Violet Shadow, imported rather than sourced through Samsung Gulf. Samsung’s Singapore spec sheet lists the same SIM setup and the same 4G and 5G band list as the UAE model. As an import, it is covered by a 1-year warranty from Totot, and we handle any claim directly.
Samsung lists one nano-SIM plus an eSIM, or two eSIMs, and Samsung does not include a charger in the box.
Displays and design
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra 1TB Violet Shadow opens to a 8.0-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X main display at 2504 × 2256 with a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz, and closes to a 6.5-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X cover display at 2520 × 1080.
Unfolded it measures 158.4 × 143.2 × 4.1 mm, and folded 158.4 × 72.8 × 8.9 mm. Samsung lists 215 g and notes that weight may vary by region. Samsung rates it IP48, tested in up to 1.5 metres of fresh water for up to 30 minutes, and notes that water resistance is not permanent.
Performance and connections
Samsung names the chip as the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform for Galaxy, an octa-core processor at up to 4.74 GHz. This unit has 16GB of memory and 1TB of storage. Connections include Wi-Fi 7 on 2.4, 5 and 6 GHz, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, UWB and USB-C 3.2 Gen 1.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra 1TB Violet Shadow ships with Android 17 and One UI 9, and the Samsung Gulf spec page lists security updates until 31 July 2033.
Cameras
The rear system pairs a 200 MP main camera at f/1.7 with a 50 MP ultra-wide at f/1.9 and a 10 MP telephoto at f/2.4. Samsung lists 3x optical zoom, 2x optical-quality zoom from the Adaptive Pixel sensor and digital zoom up to 30x.
The inner and cover selfie cameras are both 10 MP at f/2.2. Video records up to 8K at 30 fps.
Battery and charging
Samsung rates the battery at 5000 mAh typical (4854 mAh rated) and up to 27 hours of video playback under its lab conditions. Samsung’s launch announcement lists up to 67 percent in 30 minutes with a 45 W adapter, and 20 W wireless charging.
The box has no charger, so a 45 W USB-C adapter is needed to reach the fastest wired speed.
Colours and other configurations
Samsung offers the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra in Violet Shadow, Graphite, Cream and Green Shadow (Green Shadow only on Samsung.com). This page is for Violet Shadow with 16GB/1TB.
Other Singapore configurations in stock: 512GB Cream, 512GB Graphite, 512GB Violet Shadow, 1TB Graphite. If you do not need the 200 MP camera and 3x telephoto, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is lighter to carry at 201 g.
Who the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra 1TB Violet Shadow is not for
It is not for anyone who spends time on the beach or in sand. The 4 in IP48 only covers solid particles larger than 1 mm, so fine sand and dust can still get in.
It is not for anyone who wants a light phone for one hand: it weighs 215 g and is 8.9 mm thick folded. It is also not for anyone who wants Samsung Gulf service, because this is an imported Singapore unit covered by Totot.
