The Nintendo Switch Lite Coral wraps the handheld-only Nintendo Switch in a soft coral-pink finish. Underneath the colour, the Nintendo Switch Lite Coral is the same console as every other Switch Lite: built-in controls with a D-pad, a 5.5-inch 1280×720 touchscreen, 32 GB of storage and a weight of approx. 275 g. It plays Nintendo Switch games that support Handheld Mode and has no TV output, which suits someone who plays in short bursts around the house or on the go.

The Nintendo Switch Lite Coral Finish, Up Close
Coral sits between pink and peach: warm and bright without being loud. It is a popular pick for players who treat the console as part of their everyday style, and it pairs well with white, cream or pastel cases and headphones in similar tones.
Being a light colour, the Nintendo Switch Lite Coral shows marks from bags, pockets and hands sooner than the grey model. Wipe it now and then with a soft, dry cloth, keep it out of pockets with dark denim, and use a padded or hard case if it travels in a bag with keys.
Made for Short Sessions Around the House
The Switch Lite suits a pick-up-and-play routine. Press the power button mid-game to put the console into sleep mode, then wake it later and carry on from the same point. That makes it easy to play for ten minutes before dinner or a few rounds on the sofa without sitting in front of a TV.
Nintendo rates the 3570 mAh lithium-ion battery at approx. 3.0 to 7.0 hours depending on the game. A full charge through the USB-C port takes approx. 3 hours in sleep mode, so plugging the Nintendo Switch Lite Coral in overnight covers the next day of casual play.
Playing With Family and Friends
Two Switch Lite owners, or a Switch Lite and a standard Switch, can play together over local wireless in games that support it, each on their own screen. Online play and cloud saves depend on the game and on a Nintendo Switch Online membership, which Nintendo sells separately.
One console for two players is a different story. The controls are built into the body, so there are no Joy-Con to hand to a brother or sister. Joy-Con sold separately can be paired wirelessly, but the console then needs a stand, and a 5.5-inch screen is small for two people to share.
amiibo, Touch and Motion
NFC is built in, so amiibo figures and cards work in games that support them. The capacitive touchscreen handles menus and touch-based games, and an accelerometer and gyroscope take care of tilt controls.
What the console lacks are Joy-Con features. Nintendo notes that in games supporting HD rumble, the IR Motion Camera or Joy-Con motion controls, some features are unavailable on the Switch Lite unless Joy-Con are connected. Check that a game lists Handheld Mode before buying it for the Nintendo Switch Lite Coral.
Size and Comfort
The body measures 91.1 x 208 x 13.9 mm, rising to 28.4 mm at the sticks and shoulder buttons, and weighs approx. 275 g. The compact width suits smaller hands, and the traditional control pad (D-pad) on the left is easier for platformers and puzzle games than four separate direction buttons.
The Rest, in Brief
Storage is 32 GB with part reserved for the system, expandable with a microSD, microSDHC or microSDXC card. Wireless is Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac and Bluetooth 4.1. Sound comes from stereo speakers or a 3.5 mm headphone jack. Nintendo lists an operating temperature of 5 to 35 °C, so keep the Nintendo Switch Lite Coral out of a parked car in summer.
Who This Is Not For
Households that want a console for the TV: the Nintendo Switch Lite Coral cannot output video. Anyone who needs detachable controllers for shared play on one console. Fans of motion-controlled party games, unless they add Joy-Con. And players who would rather have a neutral colour that shows fewer marks, for whom the grey model is the better fit.
