The Shokz OpenRun Pro 2 Mini Black is the smaller-band size of the OpenRun Pro 2, Shokz’s flagship open-ear sports headphones. The sound, battery and controls match the standard model; what changes is the length of the band that wraps behind your head. Shokz’s sizing guide is simple: if the distance from the centre of one ear, around the back of the head, to the centre of the other ear is under 23.5 cm (9.25 in), choose the Mini. A band that fits properly stays still when you run, which is the whole point of this size.

Mini or Standard: how to choose the Shokz OpenRun Pro 2 Mini
Take a soft tape measure and run it from the centre of one ear, around the back of your head at the height the band will sit, to the centre of the other ear. Under 23.5 cm, Shokz recommends the Shokz OpenRun Pro 2 Mini; over 23.5 cm, the Standard. Measure twice: the band cannot be adjusted, so the size you pick is the fit you get.
Why it matters: on a head that is too small for the Standard band, the slack sits away from the neck, bounces with each stride and can knock against a hood or collar. The shorter band keeps the transducers pressed evenly on the cheekbones, which also helps the bone conduction sound. For the regular size, see our Shokz OpenRun Pro 2 Black page.
DualPitch: bone conduction plus an air conduction bass driver
The Shokz OpenRun Pro 2 Mini uses Shokz’s DualPitch technology, which combines bone conduction for mids and highs with a dedicated air conduction speaker for bass. Shokz Asia lists a frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz.
With the Shokz OpenRun Pro 2 Mini, the ear canal stays completely open, so traffic, cyclists and coaches’ instructions remain audible while you train. Nothing presses into or seals the ear.
Battery, quick charge and the USB-C port
Shokz rates the Shokz OpenRun Pro 2 Mini at up to 12 hours of music per charge, with a 1-hour full charge. Shokz Asia quotes a 5-minute quick charge for 2.5 hours of use, and standby of up to 10 days from a 150 mAh battery.
Charging on the Shokz OpenRun Pro 2 Mini is through a USB-C port with a protective cover, so any standard USB-C cable works, and one is included in the box.
Built for sweat and rain
The frame and ear hooks are nickel-titanium alloy, with titanium, silicone and plastic elsewhere. The Shokz OpenRun Pro 2 Mini is rated IP55, which Shokz describes as protection against low-pressure water splashes and dust. It is fine in rain and hard training, but Shokz says it is not for seawater, saunas or showers.
Shokz publishes a weight of 30.3 g for the Standard size and does not list a separate figure for the Mini, so we do not quote one.
Calls, controls and connection
Two noise-cancelling microphones handle calls on the Shokz OpenRun Pro 2 Mini. Playback and call controls sit on the headset, so you can pause or answer without taking your phone out. Bluetooth 5.3 with a 10 m range pairs with phones and watches, and the Shokz App (an app card is in the box) covers settings.
Black on a smaller frame
Black is the colour that hides the most on a sports headset: sweat salt, sunscreen and road grime show far less on it than on white or silver. On the Shokz OpenRun Pro 2 Mini, the shorter band sits closer to the neck, so a black headset almost vanishes against dark hair or a black cap.
Who This Is Not For
Anyone whose ear-to-ear measurement is over 23.5 cm: the Mini will pinch; buy the Standard. Swimmers: IP55 is not waterproof, and Shokz makes the OpenSwim Pro for the pool. Listeners who want deep, isolating bass; open-ear headphones cannot seal the ear.
Bone conduction also leaks some sound at high volume, so it is not discreet in a quiet office or library. And there is no ANC; on a plane or loud train you hear the environment, by design.

FAQ
How do I know if I need the Shokz OpenRun Pro 2 Mini?
Measure from the centre of one ear, around the back of your head, to the other. Under 23.5 cm (9.25 in), Shokz recommends the Mini.
Is the Mini different in sound or battery from the Standard?
No. Shokz sells the Mini and Standard as two sizes of the same OpenRun Pro 2; the band length is what changes.
How long does the battery last?
Up to 12 hours per charge per Shokz, with a full charge in 1 hour and 2.5 hours from a 5-minute quick charge.
Can I swim with it?
No. IP55 covers sweat, rain and dust, not submersion or seawater.
Does it charge by USB-C?
Yes. It has a USB-C port with a protective cover.
Does it leak sound?
Yes, a little at higher volumes, as all open-ear and bone conduction headphones do.
What is the weight of the Mini?
Shokz does not publish a separate weight for the Mini; the Standard is 30.3 g.
