Jet Black means black buds, black wingtips and a black case. It is the choice for anyone who wants their workout earbuds to go unnoticed, whether on a run, at the gym or on a video call afterwards. Noise control and sound
Active Noise Cancelling uses the outward microphones to adapt to your surroundings, so a gym sound system, a treadmill or traffic fade into the background. Transparency lets outside sound in, which is the mode to use near roads or when a trainer is talking to you. Beats lists Personalized Spatial Audio with dynamic head tracking, and Class 1 Bluetooth for range and fewer dropouts when the phone sits on a bench a few metres away. The case is 17% smaller than the Beats Fit Pro case, weighs 49.75 g and measures 6.25 x 5.54 x 2.75 cm, and unlike many earbud cases it is rated IPX4 like the buds. It charges over USB-C; Beats does not list wireless charging.
iPhone and Android
On Apple devices, the H1 chip gives one-touch pairing, Automatic Switching, Audio Sharing, hands-free Siri, Find My and the Fit Test. On Android, the Beats app adds one-touch pairing, customisable controls, battery status, Locate My Beats and the Fit Test. Noise cancelling and battery life are the same on both platforms, which makes the Powerbeats Fit Jet Black a sensible choice for a household with both kinds of phones.
Who This Is Not For
The Powerbeats Fit Jet Black is not for you if you want wireless charging; Beats lists USB-C only. The box has no charging cable or power adapter, so you need your own USB-C cable. IPX4 covers sweat and splashes, not swimming or rinsing under a tap. If you prefer a full ear hook for heavy lifting and long runs, or want heart rate monitoring, the Powerbeats Pro 2 is the better match. The H1 chip is older than the H2 in Beats’ newest earbuds.
