The Groot Alarm Clock is a licensed Marvel piece from Paladone, the UK maker of pop-culture lights and homeware. It is shaped like the retro cassette player from Guardians of the Galaxy, with Groot peering over the top, and a digital screen on the front shows the time. When the alarm goes off it plays “I am Groot” sound effects instead of a plain beep. Power comes through the USB cable in the box. It is a small, working bedside clock for a Marvel fan, not a large display statue.

A cassette player with Groot on top
The design is the clearest thing about the Groot Alarm Clock. The body takes the shape of the cassette player that carries the soundtrack through the Guardians of the Galaxy films, and Groot looks out over its top edge. The time sits on a digital screen set into the front of the cassette body, so the clock reads as a normal digital clock from across the room while still being a recognisable piece of the film. Retailer listings that print the box details give the height as 14.6 cm, which makes it a compact desk or nightstand piece rather than a shelf statue. The product photos show the real Groot Alarm Clock and its colours.
Waking up to I am Groot
The alarm is what makes this more than a figure. Instead of a standard buzzer, the Groot Alarm Clock plays “I am Groot” sound effects when the alarm time arrives. That is fun for a child or a fan, and it is gentler than a harsh beep. The other side of that is volume: Paladone does not publish a loudness figure, and a voice clip is not built to wake a very heavy sleeper. If you need a loud alarm to get out of bed, keep a second alarm as a backup during the first week until you know how it suits you. Setting the time and the alarm is done with the controls on the clock, as shown in the instructions inside the box.
USB power and where to place it
The Groot Alarm Clock runs from USB, and the USB cable is included. The wall adapter is not listed as included, so plan to use a phone charger you already own or a USB port on a computer or extension socket. A wall adapter is the better choice for a bedside clock, because a computer port switches off when the computer sleeps or shuts down. Because it needs a cable, place it within reach of a socket; it is not a clock you can put anywhere in the room without power. After a power cut, check the time and the alarm setting again before you rely on it the next morning.
A gift for Guardians of the Galaxy fans
Most character merchandise ends up on a shelf. The Groot Alarm Clock earns its space because it does a daily job. For a child or teenager it can replace the phone as the morning alarm, which helps keep the phone out of the bedroom at night. For an adult fan it sits on a desk or bedside table as a nod to the films without looking out of place. Paladone is an officially licensed Marvel partner, so the design is approved by the rights holder, and it arrives in Paladone retail packaging that works for gifting as it is. Paladone also makes other character clocks and lights if you want to build a small themed set.
What Paladone does not publish
Because there is no full specification page for this clock, some details are not confirmed for the Groot Alarm Clock: the exact weight, the screen brightness or whether it can be dimmed, the snooze length, the alarm volume, and whether it can keep time during a power cut. What is confirmed by the product packaging details repeated across several independent retailers is the cassette-player design with Groot, the digital time display, the “I am Groot” alarm sounds, the 14.6 cm height and USB power with a cable included. If one of the missing details matters to you, ask us before ordering and we will check the unit in stock for you.
Who This Is Not For
The Groot Alarm Clock is not for someone who needs a very loud alarm to wake up, since the wake-up sound is a short character voice clip and no volume figure is published. It is not for a spot with no USB power nearby, because it is not described as battery powered, and no wall adapter is listed in the box. It is also not a large collector statue: at 14.6 cm tall it is a small desk or bedside piece. Anyone who wants detailed clock features such as dimming steps or several alarms should look at a standard clock, as those features are not confirmed here.
