Ghost of Yotei PS5 is Sucker Punch Productions’ open-world action adventure, published by Sony Interactive Entertainment and released on 2 October 2025. PlayStation sets the scene in a line: at the northern edge of Japan, beyond the reach of the samurai, a new warrior rises from the ashes of her homestead. This is the standard edition on disc, the base game.
Table of Contents
Atsu and the Yotei Six
The game is set in rural Japan in the 1600s, about 300 years after Ghost of Tsushima, according to PlayStation. You play Atsu, a haunted lone mercenary. Sixteen years after her family’s death, her search across Ezo for a gang of six outlaws, the Yotei Six, leads her into unexplored lands, where she finds much more than vengeance.
Ghost of Yotei PS5 is a new story with a new hero. You do not need to have played Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut first, although fans will recognise the style.
Ezo and the Open World
PlayStation’s announcement describes Ezo, today’s Hokkaido, as wild and as deadly as it is beautiful. Ghost of Yotei PS5 expands the open-world structure: you choose the order of missions, and optional bounties give you reasons to wander off the main path.
The story follows Atsu from one outlaw of the Yotei Six to the next, and because mission order is yours to choose, how you reach each target is largely up to you.
PS5 and PS5 Pro Features
PlayStation lists DualSense haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, Tempest 3D AudioTech, the PS5’s ultra-high-speed SSD and Remote Play support. On PS5 Pro, the game is PS5 Pro Enhanced, using PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution and advanced ray tracing.
PlayStation does not publish a resolution or frame-rate figure for the standard PS5 on the pages we checked, so we make no 4K HDR or 60fps claim here.
Players and Online
The main story of Ghost of Yotei PS5 is a single-player adventure that can be played offline. PlayStation’s UAE page also lists online play for up to 4 players in Legends mode, which requires a PS Plus subscription.
If you only want the campaign, you never need PS Plus or an internet connection beyond the usual system updates.
Languages and Age Rating
Arabic is included in the on-screen text languages listed on PlayStation’s UAE page, alongside more than twenty others. Voice languages are English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Polish, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish; there is no Arabic voice-over.
PlayStation’s UAE page rates Ghost of Yotei PS5 18, and the box carries PEGI 18. Expect sword combat with blood and mature themes of revenge.
Who This Is Not For
This is the standard edition. It does not include the Echoes of Sekigahara story expansion or the Most Wanted mode that PlayStation lists in the digital Complete Edition, and it does not include the Digital Deluxe items such as The Snake’s armour set. Pre-order bonuses, like the in-game mask and PSN avatars, were tied to pre-orders and are not promised with this copy.
Ghost of Yotei PS5 also is not suitable for players under 18. And if you want a game built around online multiplayer, the online Legends mode is an extra; the heart of the game is a long single-player journey.
