Besiege Switch brings Spiderling Studios’ physics-based building game to Nintendo’s console: you design medieval siege engines block by block, then send them against castles, villages and armies to see what survives. Ultimate Games publishes the Switch version in Europe and America, while PLAYISM released the physical Switch package in Asia on 12 December 2024. This listing is that boxed edition of the game.

Build, Test, Break: How Besiege Switch Plays
Every level in Besiege gives you a goal and a blank workbench. You pick from more than 70 blocks, devices and mechanisms, from wheels, hinges and wooden frames to weapons and flight parts, and assemble a machine that can reach the target and do the job. Then you press play and physics takes over. A badly balanced catapult tips over, a heavy tank stalls on a slope, and a flying machine with weak joints falls apart in the air. Fixing these problems is the heart of the game.
Machines can roll on the ground or take to the sky, and the environments are fully destructible. Nintendo’s description lists the kind of jobs you get: crushing windmills, wiping out battalions of soldiers, transporting resources and defending your machine against cannons and archers. You conquer each kingdom by destroying its castles, soldiers and livestock in whatever style you choose.

Campaign and Sandbox Content in Besiege Switch
The single-player campaign spans 4 island nations with 55 levels in total. Win conditions change from level to level: destroy a fortress, carry resources to a destination or defeat every soldier on the map. Alongside the campaign there are 3 sandbox environments where nothing is at stake, so you can test ideas, measure distances and refine a design before taking it into a real level.
A time dilation slider lets you slow the action down, which is surprisingly useful. When a machine fails, slow motion shows exactly which joint snapped or which part hit the ground first. The Workshop lets you download machines other players have built and share your own, a quick way to learn new tricks from the community.

Touch Controls and Handheld Building
The Switch version supports the touch screen for building and destruction, so in handheld mode you can place and rotate blocks with your finger. On the TV you build with controllers, and the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller is supported. The game runs in TV, tabletop and handheld modes. Nintendo’s US store also lists Besiege Switch as compatible with Nintendo Switch 2, noting that game behaviour is the same as on the original Switch.
What Differs from the PC Version of Besiege Switch
Besiege started on Steam, and the console versions are not identical to it. PLAYISM states on its official page that the Nintendo Switch, PS4 and PS5 versions do not include the multiplayer and level editor features found in the Steam version. On Switch you play the campaign and the sandboxes alone, and you share creations through the Workshop instead of building custom levels. The Nintendo eShop listing shows a download size of 942 MB, and the in-game language list includes English, Japanese, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Korean and Chinese.

Who This Is Not For
Besiege Switch is a single-player game: there is no local or online multiplayer and no level editor, unlike the PC version. It is also a game about experimenting and failing, so players who want clear instructions and fast action may find it slow. Nintendo of Europe rates it PEGI 16 for strong violence, as soldiers are crushed, burned and blown apart. The rating on your box depends on the box region, and the physical package was released in Asia by PLAYISM; the Nintendo eShop version lists English, but the publisher does not publish a separate language list for this package edition. Downloading Workshop machines requires an internet connection.
