The Beats Pill Dark Gray is the deeper of the two greys in the Kim Kardashian Special Edition of the current Beats Pill. It is a charcoal tone with a matte look and no bright logos, the kind of colour that sits next to a black car interior, a dark backpack or a gym bag without drawing attention. Under the finish it is the same speaker Beats sells in its regular colours: a racetrack woofer tilted 20 degrees upward, up to 24 hours of battery, IP67 dust and water resistance, lossless audio over a USB-C cable, and a USB-C port that can charge your phone.

Why pick the Dark Gray finish
The darker grey is the practical choice of the pair. Sand from a desert camp, dust from a car boot or a smudge from a wet hand shows far less on the Beats Pill Dark Gray than on the light version, so it still looks tidy after a season of weekend trips. It also matches dark wood, black shelving and most tech on a desk, and it is a safer gift when you do not know the person’s taste. If the speaker will mostly live on a pale shelf as a design piece, the Light Gray version blends in better; if it will be thrown in a bag and taken to the beach, the dark one is easier to live with.
Built for sand, pool and desert trips
Beats rates the Beats Pill Dark Gray at IP67 and says improved internal seals help keep out dust, sand and water. In practice that means a picnic on the beach, a splash by the pool or a dusty evening at a desert camp are not a worry. Rinse it with fresh water after sea or pool water, then let the USB-C port dry fully before you charge it. The soft silicone back gives grip on a car dashboard or a camping table, and the removable lanyard lets you hang it from a tent pole or a bag strap.
Sound: a bigger woofer aimed at your ears
On the Beats Pill Dark Gray, Beats says the custom racetrack woofer moves 90% more air than the previous Pill, driven by neodymium magnets with 28% greater motor force, while a redesigned tweeter sits in its own housing for clearer highs. The whole acoustic block is angled 20 degrees upward, so when the speaker lies on a table the sound goes towards the people around it rather than into the surface. Beats does not publish a wattage, driver sizes or a frequency range, so judge it as a compact portable speaker, not a party tower.
Battery life and charging your phone on the road
Beats quotes the Beats Pill Dark Gray at up to 24 hours on one charge without naming the test volume, so loud outdoor listening will give less. A 10-minute Fast Fuel charge gives up to 2 hours of playback, handy when you forgot to charge it before leaving. On a long drive or a camping night, the same USB-C port can feed your phone from the speaker’s battery. A USB-C to USB-C cable is included; the wall adapter is not.
Lossless USB-C, two-speaker modes and calls
Plug the Beats Pill Dark Gray into a laptop or phone with the USB-C cable and it plays lossless audio instead of compressed Bluetooth sound. Wireless playback uses Class 1 Bluetooth with one-touch pairing on iOS and Android. With a second Beats Pill you can use Amplify Mode for more volume or Stereo Mode for separate left and right channels. It doubles as a speakerphone, works with your voice assistant, and appears in Find My on iOS and Find My Device on Android if it is misplaced.
Who This Is Not For
The Beats Pill Dark Gray is not a party speaker for a large hall; Beats does not publish its power output, and bass is limited by its compact size. There is no 3.5 mm input, so wired listening needs USB-C. There is no detailed EQ app, the power adapter is not in the box, and at 680 g it is heavier than pocket speakers such as the JBL Go range.
