Two transmitters, one receiver
This DJI Mic Mini kit is built for two voices. The receiver pairs with both transmitters at the same time, so an interviewer and a guest, or two hosts of a podcast, can each wear their own microphone. In Stereo mode each transmitter goes to its own channel, which lets you balance or fix one person later without touching the other. In Mono mode both voices are combined into one track, which is simpler for quick social clips. A third option, Mono with Safety Track, records a backup copy 6 dB quieter than the main track, so a sudden laugh or shout still leaves you a usable recording.
Two-level noise cancelling and automatic limiting
DJI gives the DJI Mic Mini two noise cancelling levels. Basic is meant for quiet indoor rooms and reduces fan, air-conditioning and room echo while keeping the voice natural. Strong is for busy streets, events and malls, where it cuts much more of the background. You switch noise cancelling on or off with one press of the transmitter’s power button, and choose the level in the DJI Mimo app. Automatic limiting lowers the level when the input gets too loud, and the receiver dial cycles through five gain levels, so you can set the volume without opening an app.
Phones, cameras and direct connection
In the box you get a Type-C phone adapter and a 3.5 mm TRS camera audio cable. On a camera, the cable supports synchronised power on and off, and on a phone you can play audio back without unplugging the receiver. A Lightning adapter for older iPhones is not included; DJI sells it separately. The transmitters can also connect straight to a phone over Bluetooth with no receiver at all, and to DJI OsmoAudio cameras: Osmo Action 4 takes one transmitter, while Osmo Pocket 3 and Osmo Action 5 Pro take up to two. DJI rates each transmitter at about 11.5 hours and the receiver at about 10.5 hours on a full charge. The case holds a 1,950 mAh battery and can fully recharge both transmitters and the receiver about 3.6 times, which is where the up to 48 hours figure comes from. DJI measured it with a full case, noise cancelling off, both transmitters connected and the receiver on a camera through the 3.5 mm cable. A quick five-minute charge gives about one hour of use, and a full charge takes about 90 minutes for a transmitter and about 100 minutes for the receiver. The case itself recharges in about 2 hours.
