The DJI Mic Mini 2S is a compact wireless microphone system, and this is the full two-person kit: two transmitters, one Mic Mini 2S receiver and the charging case. 32-bit float internal recording
With an ordinary wireless mic you set the gain before recording, and if the speaker suddenly laughs or shouts, the clip distorts for good. Each DJI Mic Mini 2S transmitter records internally in 32-bit float, which keeps a very wide dynamic range so that clipped-sounding peaks can be pulled back in editing. About 14.5 GB of storage gives loop recording of up to 28 hours, according to DJI. You can save the internal file as the original track or as an algorithm-optimised version. DJI also says that if the receiver battery runs low, the transmitter starts internal recording automatically, so the take is not lost.
Two voices, four transmitters, four channels
This kit covers two speakers out of the box, but the DJI Mic Mini 2S receiver can pair with up to four transmitters at once, and DJI lets you mix Mic Mini, Mic Mini 2 and Mic Mini 2S transmitters on the same receiver. With a Sony camera, connected through the DJI Mic Series Camera Adapter or a 3.5 mm cable, a four-channel mode outputs four independent audio tracks for cleaner editing. Transmitters can also connect directly to selected DJI cameras through OsmoAudio, without the receiver, and directly to a smartphone over Bluetooth for third-party apps, with automatic reconnection to paired devices.
Noise reduction, tone presets and gain control
DJI’s two-level AI noise reduction uses a new in-house model to remove background noise while keeping the voice clear; use the lighter level indoors and the stronger one on busy streets. Three voice tone presets, Normal, Rich and Bright, shape the sound without editing. Adaptive gain control offers two modes: clipping control, which softens sudden peaks at events such as race days, and volume balancing, which keeps levels steady in interviews and live streams. On paper, the DJI Mic Mini 2S reaches a maximum SPL of 126 dB at 1 percent THD and an equivalent noise of 22 dBA, with an omnidirectional pattern and a 20 Hz to 20 kHz response.
Battery, charging case and what is in the box
DJI rates each transmitter at about 11 hours, measured with two transmitters and one receiver, noise reduction and internal recording off, and the receiver at about 10 hours; both charge in about 70 minutes. The 1950 mAh charging case recharges two transmitters and the receiver about 3.2 times, for up to 40 hours in total. Who This Is Not For
The DJI Mic Mini 2S is not for users who need a screen on the receiver or transmitter to monitor levels: control is by dial and buttons, and the higher-end DJI Mic 3 adds a touchscreen. The included phone adapter is USB-C, so iPhones with a Lightning port need a separate adapter. Runtime figures are measured with noise reduction and internal recording off, so using both shortens them, and the system operates only from -10 to 45 degrees C.
