The Insta360 Ace Pro 2 is Insta360’s flagship action camera, built around a sensor and lens co-engineered with Leica. Every figure below comes from Insta360’s own product page and its official online manual, and each keeps the condition Insta360 attaches to it: which resolution, which mode, which covers closed.

What the Insta360 Ace Pro 2 Actually Records
On the Insta360 Ace Pro 2 the headline mode is 8K in 16:9, which is 7680 x 4320 pixels, at 30, 25 or 24 fps. There is no 8K60 on this camera. If you want 60 fps or faster you drop to 4K, where the Insta360 Ace Pro 2 reaches 120 fps. That is the honest shape of the specification: 8K for detail you can crop into afterwards, 4K for motion you want to slow down.
Stills from the Insta360 Ace Pro 2 are 50MP, or 8192 x 6144 pixels. Active HDR, which holds highlights and shadows together in harsh light, is available up to 4K60. PureVideo, the low-light mode that cuts noise and lifts brightness, also runs at 4K up to 60 fps, at 3840 x 2160 with frame rates down to 24. Audio is recorded at 48 kHz, 16-bit, in AAC.
The Leica Lens and the Sensor Behind It
The sensor is a 1/1.3-inch type. That is the figure Insta360 publishes, and it is worth stating plainly, because a 1/1.3-inch sensor is not a 1-inch sensor and the difference in light-gathering area is large. The lens is a Leica SUMMARIT with an F2.6 aperture and a 13 mm equivalent focal length in 35 mm terms, which is why footage from the Insta360 Ace Pro 2 reads as wide without collapsing into a fisheye look.
Insta360 describes the camera as co-engineered with Leica rather than simply carrying a Leica name on the body. What you will notice in use is the colour rendering and how the lens behaves against bright light. The sensor size still sets the ceiling on how much light the camera can collect, and no lens partnership changes that physics.
Stabilisation, PureVideo and the Two Chips
Stabilisation on the Insta360 Ace Pro 2 is FlowState combined with 360 degree Horizon Lock, so the frame stays level even when the body rotates. Behind it sit two processors: a Pro Imaging Chip and a separate 5 nm AI chip. The AI chip drives the in-camera features Insta360 lists, including an AI Highlights Assistant that picks out moments from a long clip, an AI Selfie Stick Eraser and AI Warp effects.
One published detail that is easy to miss: Insta360 notes that units produced from July 2026 onward use two microphones instead of three, and states that warranty coverage is identical for both versions. The Wind Guard is built into the hardware rather than being a foam cover you clip on, so there is nothing extra to buy or lose for windy shooting.
Waterproof to 12 m, and the Three Covers That Make It True
Insta360 rates the Insta360 Ace Pro 2 waterproof to 39 ft, which is 12 m, without a Dive Case. The rating carries a precise condition: the battery cover must be closed so that the yellow mark is completely hidden, and the USB port cover and the lens cover must both be fitted and securely closed. Insta360 states plainly that if any of the three is open or not seated, the camera is not waterproof.
With the Dive Case, which is sold separately and is not included here, the rating rises to 197 ft, which is 60 m. Twelve metres covers swimming, snorkelling, surf and rain. Sixty metres is the number that puts this camera into scuba territory, and it depends entirely on buying the case, so budget for it if diving is why you are looking at this camera.
Battery, Charging, Screen and Storage
The Insta360 Ace Pro 2 battery is 1800 mAh, and Insta360 quotes 180 minutes of runtime. Read the condition attached to that number: it was measured at 77 degrees F, which is 25 degrees C, recording 1080p at 24 fps, with Active HDR switched off. Shoot 8K30 or 4K120 through a UAE summer afternoon and you will see a fraction of it. Charging takes 47 minutes to full with a 30 W adapter, or 18 minutes to reach 80 per cent.
The screen is a 2.5-inch flip touchscreen at 329 PPI and 900 nits, which is bright enough to frame a shot in direct sun. There is no internal storage at all, so the Insta360 Ace Pro 2 needs a microSD card from the first day, and it supports cards up to 1 TB. Wi-Fi is dual-band 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac and Bluetooth is BLE 5.2. The body measures 73.2 x 53.7 x 39.5 mm and weighs 184 g.
Who This Is Not For
This is not a small camera. At 184 g, with a flip screen on the front, the Insta360 Ace Pro 2 is heavier and bulkier than a bare action cube, and you will feel the difference on a helmet mount or a chest harness over a long day. If the lightest possible thing on your head is the priority, this is not it.
The Insta360 Ace Pro 2 is not a scuba camera out of the box either, because that depends on the Dive Case you buy separately. It is not for anyone who reads 8K and assumes 8K60, since the camera stops at 8K30. And because there is no built-in storage, it is not usable at all until you add a microSD card, and it needs a fast one if you intend to live in the highest bitrate modes.

FAQ
Does the Insta360 Ace Pro 2 shoot 8K at 60 fps?
No. 8K tops out at 30 fps, with 25 and 24 fps also available. For 60 fps or faster you shoot 4K, where the camera reaches 120 fps.
Is it waterproof without a case?
Yes, to 39 ft, which is 12 m, as long as the battery cover is closed with the yellow mark completely hidden and the USB port and lens covers are fitted and closed. With the separately sold Dive Case the rating is 197 ft, or 60 m.
How long does the battery last?
180 minutes, measured by Insta360 at 25 degrees C while recording 1080p at 24 fps with Active HDR off. Higher resolutions, heat and Active HDR all bring that down.
Is a memory card included?
No. The Insta360 Ace Pro 2 has no internal storage, so you need a microSD card to use it; it supports cards up to 1 TB.
How large is the sensor?
1/1.3 inch, as published by Insta360, paired with a Leica SUMMARIT lens at F2.6 and a 13 mm equivalent focal length. It is not a 1-inch sensor.
How fast does it charge?
47 minutes to full with a 30 W adapter, or 18 minutes to reach 80 per cent.
How many microphones does it have?
2 on units produced from July 2026 onward, and 3 on earlier units. Insta360 publishes this change and states the warranty is identical either way.
